Half Life² Ravenholm on the other hand was pretty damn scary to me.
kinda the answer i was expecting, its not so scary, but there are people that get easily jumpscared by a headcrab
But there can be an overbearing sense of dread in some locations. You hear groans and moans of the facility miles above you as you're trying to reach the surface. It just makes you imagine whats going on above you, and how it's probably falling apart, collapsing in on itself.
Then theres the dread of imagining whats happening outside the facility walls on the surface. The military is there to kill you, but they're actually innocent too. You get to the surface and see the entire property and probably the entire country is being overwhelmed with alien portal storms, and the military is having to pull out. It's a war and humans are losing.
It's not scary, its just very heavy on dread. Opposing force is even more so.
I still remember the fact that after an hour of playing this game I felt constant tension and fear. I would like to feel a game with the same intensity as I felt at that very young age
I remember everything was way darker too on the non-steam version and the sounds the aliens make whether they're idle or getting shot spooked me. I didn't play, I only watch my brother play and seeing the scientist in the dumpster and the one in the bright room fighting the headcrab in unforseen consequences even gave me relief.
i actually think a headcrab is less scary than a hecu that appear from the croner and then throw a granade in your face...
(like that in the background)
The game is not meant to be scary but it may put tension in some players.
yeah thats pretty scary... one thing is all the people say that headcrab and zombies are the most scary things, but hecu soldiers are probably most scary sometimes, they can be really funny sometimes but they are pretty scary...
