UPDATE
Friended his family and then we got serioius and proposed within a day. We are now married. lol Thanks all who helped and the useful suggestions.

So I reached full hearts with a npc and the title of BFF... Kinda not what I was going for. I just got friend zoned lul. What am I failing at here?

Kinda depends what you're going for.

If you want girlfriend/boyfriend you need to gift them a heart knot (buy at flower shop, can be done at "friend" level I believe).

If you want marriage I think you need bf/gf first, then you need to gift them a wedding ring bought from the mysterious man (and for some there may be additional considerations, ex Phyllis) - I think you need to be at 8 hearts for this but not 100% sure (I've only ever proposed at 8 and the wiki isn't super clear).

Some NPCs can't be romanced - like ones that are already in relationships (Mars + Carol for ex) or whatever - you can find specifics in the wiki if you so desire.

I did buy the heart knot thing and gave it to him and he scolfed if off with "you are kidding right". and yes he is marry - able lol its gust

Thanks for trying. I read that article so many times , I probably know it by heart. I have done everything it says there and as I said .. got him to full hearts and only eached BFF ... lul .. the horrible friend zone words :P . Thanks though for trying to help me out.

Can't you just try to give him heart knots again? You can also put points in the skill that increases the chance of becoming lovers (or is it only marrying? don't know).

So I have not attempted to give him the heart knot again , I was worried it would make him unhappy. But I guess I have nothing to lose lol. I am kinda stubborn and passive aggressive so I want to kick him in the knee and date his friend lol.

How is your relationship to the rest of his family? There might be some of their quest requirements that must also be met.

Hmm never thought about that . I suppose I should friend them up a bit more. I ahve slowly worked on them , but as we all know.. Ginger is a bit difficult with her vampire ways Lul
