Kickstarter abuse has ruined the system for a lot of decent future developers who could really use it to get started. Running a business is about strict financial management and investing earned revenue into future projects which generate more revenue. If 2 million copies at $25 a pop can't afford to product a $50,000 board game (as per the amount asked in the Kickstarter) I think it's justified to criticize.
And what are the sleeves made out of?
Somehow $100 for a few double layered boards, a bunch of standard quality cards and sleeves doesn't feel right at all... but sadly that's just the industry now. Stefan Feld's city board games were kickstarted for $100 and they have even less in them than this.
That's interesting. How did you find your boardgame when you finally got to play it?
I consider myself quite rich, money is not my problem.
I wouldn't have slightest problem paying 100$ and wouldn't even notice it as an expense, I absolutely love the devs of StS and would support them gladly but I just won't pay 100$ for this product because it is ridiculously overpriced.
The reason people with money have money is because they don't spend too much of it on simple things that are overpriced.
There are 100$ board games out there but these are huge with tens to hundred of figurines, a lot of different boards etc. This board game is of the size of a 30$ maybe 40$ board game but with a price tag of 100$? Pass.
Yes there are 2 millions already "raised" but I honestly think that if this was reasonably priced there would be multiples of that already. The target audience of the game and the price tag just does not overlap that much like this.
This is a product with premium price tag but without premium content from a company that made 1 notable indie game. I simply don't get this, what went wrong here?
It isn't even localized to Czech that has an enormous market for board games (all generations play board games here, from very young age to very old people, we love them and they are basically part of our traditional lifestyle at this point) and most games even from smaller publishers are usually made in Czech too so that's a big downside for me as well.
Anything that makes money will be milked. And Slay of the Spire has a lot of fans to milk. I'm pretty sure were in the minority here.
