You could always get strengths or plated armors instead.

Who has been crazy enough to test a card that doesn't tell you what it does?

Thx Zephrys for inspiring the devs, probably.

But 4/6 strength shouldn't cost 25% of current hp
Plated armors 3/4 each turn is only viable choice, but too slow.
My first run[puu.sh] after update and i'm lucky to get 3 wish (first one on 2nd floor, second on 16th floor and on 38 floor duplicator event)

Yeah, new Wish is garbage. Old Wish was better, maybe even broken a bit.

New one? Only at low Ascension to farm Gold, or if one has a way to heal constantly. Which, considering the only native heal for Watcher is ANOTHER Rare, means basically never.

I could understand if it was Ironclad Card, or Defect. But Watcher? :/

4 plated armour each turn is straight up broken. If you have meat on the bones or other form of sustain you just auto win fights. I used it on ascension 14 but I'm pretty sure you can use it higher up because after bottled wish + meat on the bones and the face trader that gives max hp every fight was the same - turn 1 wish for plated armour if i dont need the strength (vs giant head im pretty sure I took str), then stall until windmill strike has enough damage to finish the fight in one turn with blasphemy. If I needed frontloaded dmg i just took + str and used crappy attacks with 6 str to win the fight. I finished the run with 3 energy.

I'm sure I could use the old wish for something useful in the right scenario, like double deva form but it was much more rng and deck reliant, where the new one is just insane with the right relics and probably brilliance too.

And that is kinda the problem exactly: It is very dependant on having low Ascension and/or specific Relics, or, t the very least, another specific rare Card. Which is simply bad design.
The old one was functional when one had one or more value cards in one's deck. Which was an easy condition to fulfill.

Or, to put it this way: Old one I used despte the 4 Mana Cost. The new one, despite 1 Mana cost, I would never use without those specific Artefacts and/or Brilliance. So pretty much never.
And I can not fathom why anyone would think this change was actually such a good idea that they'd ACTUALLY implement it.

Omniscience is the old Wish. New Wish is... interesting. I just found out that intangible will lower the 25% health loss to 1hp, so that's a thing if you get Apparitions or Vault. It's okay, situationally.

Vault ends turn, so...

You're right, I'm dumb.

Apparition still works, at least. Unless that bit about reworking Intangible to only affect attacks did it in; that's one hell of a nerf.

So I'm having trouble following this, and haven't got the chance to try the card yet. Does it just give gold, or is it a random unspecified effect?

Assuming Upgraded: +40 Gold, +6 Strength, or stacking armour, at the cost of 25% of one's remaining health. In other words, yeah, it is strong, but not very interesting nor viable unless one has enough health regen to make the health loss a non-issue.

I agree, that's not really... well, not worth that much HP, at least. At the very least, those effects are not equally valuable.

And before anyone goes and brings up that whole, "this game is about making guesses" argument, this isn't an informed guess. It's hidden behind wording that explicitly tells you nothing of what it might do, only the cost of doing it. For a quarter of your health, you should at least get to know the odds of getting a Strength boost vs. a tiny amount of gold.
Sealer Sep 28, 2019 @ 5:10pm
There are no odds, you get to pick one of these. +4 plated armour each turn basically makes you invincible in a lot of fights and + 6 strength can make or break some of the fights where you need to be faster. Also, if you have let's say 40 hp you would lose 10 hp, and if you can stall long enough for plated armour to kick in you can potentially lose less hp playing wish then you would otherwise in the fight.

Ah. I see. In that case, I retract my statement about odds, though I maintain that the card is badly worded and its effects are not equally valuable.

It really should at least be changed to something like, "Lose 25% of your current HP, choose to gain Strength, Plated Armor, or Gold. Exhaust." At least then the player has some idea what's going to happen like every other card in the game.
