And yes, smoke bomb should just make you leave the event totally. I understand it wouldn't make total sense since you're locked in an arena, but you can leave Elites with them and those guys are easier.
The Colosseum is one of my least favorite events, even when you win the bigger battle it's annoying.
That's the point of mystery rooms though... it's not always positive.
Beating the slavers rewards you with the qualifications for the very lucrative second fight. Getting this event in the latter half of Act 2 is actually extremely good, as most of the time you will be strong enough by this point to win both fights with minimal health loss. Getting two relics in return is exceptionally nice.
Then perhaps add an escape option before the 2 slaver battle, but you take 15 damage being hurt in the escape. If you choose to fight you take 0 damage if you escape afterwards. It's just tedious if you aren't interested in doing the fight.
