...It actually means reducing by one tenth. Well, at least that is what the Romans meant when they decimated unruly provinces.
From dictionary.com -
1. kill, destroy, or remove a large percentage or part of.
From Thesaurus.com - annihilate, exterminate, obliterate, slaughter, wipe out, butcher, execute, massacre, commit genocide, kill off, stamp out,
You can argue with me but if you don't find a thesaurus and a dictionary compelling, then I dunno. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Pretty sure it's actually "It may mean kill a large percentage [of a group], or remove a large percentage".
If so, the dictionary definition actually is an argument on my side, not on yours.
And a thesaurus isn't good evidence. Sometimes most of the other words will make sense in a certain context, while on another context not a single other one will make sense. As I stated before, decimate may mean kill, hence your thesaurus also gave in such results. But pretty sure that it doesn't make sense / is never used when one person is dying, or one person is killed off. Don't forget the context - that's important.
A bit bitey, no?
It may be worth considering that this game is full of references to other media, and some of the game over messages might also be references.
Funny though - first start the thread and then suddenly he "doesn't care", and it "doesn't matter" anymore haha.
But at least I can give props for not becoming personal or insulting.
