Relics like Du-Vu Doll or Blue Candle check for the card type - therefore those also proc on Pride, Ascender's Bane and Necronomicurse.
However, Bonfire Spirits event uses rarity to identify, what card type is given (makes sense since reward gets better if you toss in a card with a better rarity). There are six (or seven) rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Starter, Special, Status (not sure about this though), and Curse.
Ascender's Bane, Pride and Necronomicurse are curses which are obtained by events/certain conditions, and should not be acquired otherwise, obviously. Therefore, they have the rarity "Special". Other "special" cards are Bite, Ritual Dagger... etc. Special is the rarity used for "never shows up on card picks, shops etc."
So why do these 3 curses have the special rarity? Because if they had the rarity "Curse", they would be in the pool for every "Obtain a curse" option. Pride used to have curse rarity - I remember getting Prides from Calling Bell and Cursed Key.
Aside from Bonfire Spirts event, they behave like other curses though, as said (Du-Vu doll etc.)
