I don't see what Firebreathing has to do with this, that Power only applies to Attack cards, and Curses are non-Attack cards, so its completely irrelevant to Blue Candle.
fire breathing was just an example. It triggers on (attack) cards played, just as blue candle does (on curse cards played) and has an effect that deals damage. But with fire breathing, the damage doesnt count as dealt by the trigger (an attack card), with blue candle it does count as self damage from a card
If blue candle said - on curses, replace "unplayable" with "take 1 damage when played" and make them exhaust - it would be fine, because the damage would be on the card text
