Watcher's Lesson Learned card did not upgrade a card after killing a life-link slime
in Act 3. It was as if I defeated it with a Strike. And no, I did not give any of the three a chance to grow back. So what gives?

It was the last Slime? Because this encounter can be a bit iffy with out of combat upgrade cards.

My deck was nowhere near fully upgraded, lol. I have never had a single fully-upgraded deck in all of my Slaying.

I used it on the first-Slime-to-die and did not allow any to regenerate. This isn't an out-of-combat upgrade card, from what I understand...

Not the last-Slime-to-die?

As Zu and DJ pointed out, the Darklings are kinda weird. They're effectively handled as a single enemy with 3 life bars, so as far as cards with the Fatal keyword are considered, only killing the final one of them counts.

Which is counterintuitive, in my opinion, but probably left that way either because it's difficult to fix or to prevent farming (theoretically, you could use Hand of Greed to earn infinite gold).

I have had this happen few times now. Latest was against the Gremlin leader just now, after giving an exact killing blow to the shield gremlin which had a combination of shield and hp equal to 20 and hit him with wrath-boosted 'Lesson Learned'.No card seems to be upgraded :(

It would be neat to have access to some kind of activity log to double check on easily missed events like this... Hard to be sure if it was just graphical glitch or did I actually miss an upgrade there.

^That's actually not a bug by any stretch. The Fatal keyword says "whenever you kill a non-minion enemy with this card", and the gremlins in that fight are minions.

Correct. I killed the first slime I killed in that fight with it, BUT I did not let any regenerate so that should count, no?

Oh. Well, that's super-lame. The card exhausts, after all, doesn't it?

Nope, it doesn't count, but i guess you know that now. Also, you quoted yourself, just saying :winter2019happybulb:

Oh lol I couldn't find it for a moment. It was weird that Steam formatted it anyways without the "[/quote]."

And yeah, so I'm saying that it should count...

I doubt the devs are gonna change that as they expressed no desire to and it is a long standing mechanic. They even nerfed those cards with the Fatale word because they wanted things like this to not work. You just need to remember that from now on, ranting about it, while i can understand it, wouldn't have much purpose at this point.
