"not responding" every time i launch the game
EDIT: Steam needed to update so i did but then steam wouldnt open up again, ive had this happen a few times now and the only fix i know of is restarting my computer. It seems my issue is more steam releated as ive had issues in the past of the same thing happening but with differnt games. im not really sure where to go to get support help for this

i was able to play it last night perfectly fine. other games work perfectly fine. but every time i try to play this, the game window shows up but then instantly turns to not responding, ive tried setting it to run as admin, ive tried deleting the display.info thing i play in windowed and the resolution is fine. ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it still doesnt work

This is where you look at your Windows update history and reliability monitor in control panel to see what has changed since last night. Maybe you have a standalone version of Java (for some reason) and Microsoft decided to force an update so now it conflicts with the game.

Task manager might also show a problematic process spiking in cpu or memory alongside StS.

there was no update, no spike in cpu, ram or disk

Can you launch it through the exe when steam's not running? Overriding a messy cloud sync this way is the only thing I can think of besides manually deleting the whole folder before reinstalling.

if cloud sync is possibly an issue would disabling the cloud sync for the game also work ?

Tbh idk enough about the cloud.

Even the whole "Run the game offline and then choose upload when steam asks you next time you play online." is a long shot because I mean, the files on your computer should currently be identical to the ones in the cloud, hence the "Manually delete errything." follow-up.

Forgot to mention cuz it's unlikely but still: Check if your antivirus decided to quarantine the game or if your firewall decided to block it for no good reason.
