What is my aim?

Hi yall. Just completed a run with each character. I can now use "ascencion 1" on each (except the new one with stances whose name I forgot).
Did not kill the heart thing, dunno what that is.
What is my next step? Should I be beating the game some special way? grind up ascencions? Thanks!!

It's really up to you.

Each character has 20 ascension levels (difficulty levels) where each ascension is progressively more difficult than the last.

The 'heart' is an optional boss available at any ascension level if you really want to challenge yourself. You only need to beat Acts 1- 3 to advance ascension levels, you don't have to beat the heart each time.

I would suggest picking the character that you enjoy the most, and then work your way up through the ascension levels for that character. Then pick another and rinse and repeat. Pick whatever is the most fun for you.

You'll learn that there are a lot of ways to play the game, and that no two runs are alike. Just have fun!

You can try grinding up the ascensions. But there's also the "true" ending to get, which gives you what is honestly the best unlock in the game. Oh, and you should unlock everything. Did you win the runs you "completed"? If so, congrats. Managing to do just that can be tough.

Ah, okay. Well, that technically counts as a "win" and a completed run.

Act 3 ends in "Victory?" That counts as a win for unlocking the next Ascension level, but...

There is another "Victory!" ending to find. If you want a hint I can give it to you, but you can probably explore around on your own and find it easily enough.

I'd go for the achievements on the low ascensions, it makes no sense to grind for them when the game itself is already pretty challenging. Most achievements are easiest done on A1 since you can grind for relics more easily than on A0, except for the "one relic" achievement.

I had fun unlocking all achievements (~130 hours) and another 600 hours playing between ascension 10-15 and seeing what kind of decks I can get away with ^^

got it, I will limit myself to trying to beat A1 with what I guess are three keys. Got all three but never made it out on A1, Thanks guys

The next thing to do is the same in any card game: look for stuff (cards, relics, etc.) that seems interesting and test out different combinations. Games like this are good because sometimes you get a relic like "art of war" early on, and then you can spend the rest of the run assembling a deck that might work well using it. I stopped unlocking stuff ages ago but still have fun with the game.
