Windows 11 volume slider annoying issue
On Windows 11 when you adjust the system volume a small popup appears at the bottom-center of the screen showing the current volume setting.

You can click on the volume slider in this popup to set the volume to the corresponding value.

The issue is that when playing Slay the Spire, when I adjust the volume using my scroll wheel, the popup is there but it's invisible (presuming it's appearing behind the Slay the Spire window).

So if I'm really unlucky, if I click on a card at the bottom of the screen and click in an unfortunate location, it will set my volume to 100 which is extremely painful when I'm playing music on Spotify...

Anyone else experiencing this issue? Any ways to prevent it? Yes I mainly use keybindings to select my cards but will click on them occasionally. This isn't strictly specific to Slay the Spire but I encounter it most often in this game since you click mostly on the bottom portion of the screen.

Now that's some W11 jank.
Does it even happen if you run the game in exclusive full-screen (not borderless)?

Thanks for the suggestion. It happens in both exclusive full screen and windowed full screen modes, but in normal windowed mode the volume popup is visible. If it's visible it's less likely I'll accidentally click it, so that's a good workaround for now. I sent microsoft some feedback about it saying that my ears are ringing while I write this lol

Brilliant. Kind of baffling this has seemingly been an oversight for a whole year. Alongside recent W10 jank, nonsense like this really makes you lose faith in OS devs.

It is time to stop suckling on the poisonous teat of Microsoft and Apple: use a Linux distro like a smart person with morals. Most games work great on Linux through Steam Proton, including this one.

(Yes, this game has a native Linux version, but you generally want to use Steam Proton anyway. Devs apparently can't be bothered to maintain a proper Linux build when Steam Proton works so well already. This game's Linux build has been good to me, but that is very often not the case.)

Linux Mint is great for people used to Windows.

If your proposed solution to a janky OS feature is to suggest Linux then I've got news for you..

And yes, I've been using Linux for a long long time (probably a lot longer than you) including maining Arch for several years. Nowadays I just use the right tool for the job which is why I dual boot Windows and Linux and use each to its own strengths given my own personal circumstances.

I also learned years ago to lay off the Stallman-style evangelism.

Which begets the question, why upgrade to win 11?
That thing is barely 2 years old... that`s basically early access for Microsoft standards :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

I had a good experience using it on a another system for a while, so when I was installing Windows from scratch on a new PC I figured it was a good time to get the move over with. I've actually found it to be very stable, the issue in this post is the only problem I've had in a year of heavy use.

It's probably mostly the same code running under the hood anyway.
