incorrect progress after switching accounts
I am sharing a library and this game with my boyfriend, but whenever I switch the account on our pc, a wrong save file loads for me. I tried turning off cloud saves and tried multiple times to create a new save file and deleting the old save, but it always loads the same old save file that should not exist anymore. To get to my actual progress I have to abort that particular run, turn off the game, start the game, abort a second incorrect run, turn off the game and only when starting the game again do I get the correct save. But all this shows up in the statistics. It is very annoying. Is there a proper fix for this?
Thank you.

How do you mean? Do you have separate user accounts on the same PC, but use the same Steam account, or separate Steam accounts but use the same user account on the PC, or something else I haven't thought of? Sorry, I'm just not sure exactly where the overlap is.

Regardless, though, one thing that definitely works is, even when using the same account on both the PC and Steam, StS itself has three profile slots (which is easy to forget) for separate games. So if any other attempted fixes fail, you can always fall back on that as a workaround.

Lol, on a related note, has your bf had trouble with his saved runs going missing? :distrusttricky::lunar2019laughingpig:

Therefore, make a fresh profile in slot 3. Keep a throwaway profile in slot 1. Next time you want to continue your run, swap profiles back and forth.
If that doesn't work, agree on which account should hold both your profiles. Any further troubleshooting isn't worth the hassle.

We use the same PC, have separate Steam accounts, he owns the game but we share libraries, so both of us can play the game. I didn't mean switch profiles in game, but change Steam accounts on the pc. Sorry for the confusion.
I can see his profile in the first slot in game, the second slot is mine. The issue is that a very old save is being loaded when I start the game on my steam account, even though the in-game profile I played with when creating that old save got deleted. It is always the same save that is being loaded first time, as well. I think it might be the very first save I ever did before the steam accounts changed again on our pc.

Case in point: You shouldn't even see his profile, but the devs never figured out how to reliably differentiate multiple Steam accounts on the same device.
Either way, delete everything in here: steamapps\common\SlayTheSpire\saves
Progress is tied to the preferences folder, so no worries.

Huh. So, because the old save was never completed or failed when OP created a new profile (or account or whatever else), it's still in the saves and it keeps mistakenly popping up?

Thanks a lot, this seems to have worked.
