Apk file on steam and or gog.
Not sure wether developers are still supporting the game but why there is still no APK files for Android nor on steam nor on the Gog?

I know there is tons of third party sites providing cracked versions, but why I can't get one from developer/publisher with my purchase of PC version?

You are indeed in luck!
Now you can buy an official StS app directly from the Play Store! Half off the original Steam/Gog releases!

Now, if you are instead asking why you aren`t getting free stuff...
well...
probably just because the devs are the greedy capitalistic sort who insist on getting paid for their work instead of giving it away for free

Steam isn't in the business of selling Android games. You might as well be asking why Google Play doesn't sell the Nintendo Switch port.

I am not in luck because Google play doesn't work in my region or I would get it already.

So question still stands. Why not put the apk file along with other files in steam/gog to protect your supporters from third party decisions?

Also, no offence but I already payed for the game, and I actually considered buying it again on steam when I found out it even existed on mobile. So if we assume they want money, putting apk in other releases (like steam ultimate edition for example) would allow them to get more money.

My only alternative is the actual free cracked stuff that kinda goes against my habits.

Steam isn't Spotify and yet it sells soundtracks, artbooks, instruments and even tools for different works.

There is no objective reason why they can't put additional file into some edition to let you get everything from one place directly from them outside of want/don't want stuff.

Steam is in the business of selling soundtracks, sure. But they still don't sell Android games. That simply isn't a thing on Steam, not here or anywhere else.

I think they really CAN`T sell android games.

They could sell access for free with the game, but eh....
or maybe sell an apk/code somewhere, but it`s probably too much of an hassle

Honestly.... this seems less like a dev issue and more of a "My Google Play got embargoed" kind of problem

I`d say just pirate it and call it a day.... this is one of those cases where it`s kinda ok :conwayshrug:
Zagryzaec Aug 30, 2023 @ 4:15am
I don't like pirating, and I think I must do whatever attempt possible to get stuff properly before I have no other choice. Yes I know pirates are beneficial for keeping gaming industry from destroying itself, but why shouldn't I try parley with developers first. Everyone can benefit from it - developers gets more money, steam more diversification of product that is always good, people - their product on their console of choice.

There is no a single reason in the world to not include apk file along with other. How is this "can't"? The very reason for apk existing is so you could distribute your product freely. Without allowing to people who have no idea what are they doing to ruin as much world economy as they can.

It's more of a developers decision what they include in their packages. Soundtrack, artbooks, renders, books, stories, manuals, characters. You can put whatever you want I believe.

I have literally never seen a situation in which you buy a video game on any platform, and you get an apk file for a mobile version of it. You are inventing things out of thin air. And if you really saw that somewhere, it was obviously a weird edge case. This is not a standard at all, never has been in fact. Especially not on Steam, so what are you even talking about?

Also, there are some very easy reason not to include the "apk" of your game along whatever version of it you bought. Easiest one being that it simply doesn't exist... You know it takes more than pressing a button somewhere to make a mobile version of the game, right? And since a vast majority of video games don't have mobile version of them, it's weird to expect that to even be a thing. And on an off-chance that the game actually does have a mobile version, like StS here, why would anybody give it to you for free? Go buy it separately, it took time and money to make that version too, why would they give it away for free? It's not a charity.

And why is it not purchasable on Steam? Because Steam is for PC games, not mobile games... There is zero support for mobile games here. If you want an android version of StS, go buy one on the Play Store. Play Store doesn't work in your country? That's not the dev's fault... There is literally no problem here of any kind, you're just whining and being extremely unreasonable and acting entitled. Your suggestions and justifications make no sense at all. If this is such a big deal for you, then go and solve your own problem, as I said there are options. And if you don't want to take those options, then deal with not being able to play the game on your phone...

Can you name any other games on Steam that do this? I've never heard of a single one. For all I know Valve might even actively disallow this, it could be a headache for them if it makes them responsible for another platform.

And even if they did, how would royalties then be handled for the studio that did the Android port? They get paid based on Android sales, if it was given away on Steam then there'd be no way to accurately determine their fair cut.

Yes, there is: we live in a mostly horrible world run on time, work, and money.

Do you think that if you make a game on one platform, then it just magically exists on all other platforms in an instant? No! Time, work, and money are necessary to bring them into existence. And in StS's case, the original developers even hired someone to make the mobile port for them; people need to get paid.

If you think that buying a game on one platform should give you ownership of the game on ALL platforms, then the price will need to be adjusted accordingly.

I see a lot of very stupid commentaries here so let me do you a favour and clarify again and you in return do me a favour and read and consider that.

I have literally never seen a situation in which you buy a video game on any platform, and you get an apk file for a mobile version of it.
You have not seen a lot of things in your life. But have you seen airplanes? Mobile phones? Personal computers? Imagine yourself someone invented them too, and people like the existence of those things as they make our life better, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't invent new better things. There were times when there were no steam at all. There were times when you had to have your CD in the drive to have your game running. There were times when the game had no localization outside of let's say japanese. There were times when manuals artbooks and soundtracks weren't provided with the game online and only as physical copies. But now are the better times, and I wish to make those times even better for everyone while others try to make it worse for everyone.

You know what didn't exist also? Regional prices. And yet it seems that some Turkish accounts get games twice or twice as cheap as other regions is not a problem for Valve.
Also, there are some very easy reason not to include the "apk" of your game along whatever version of it you bought. Easiest one being that it simply doesn't exist...
And this is why I never asked for one until I decided to buy a second copy on steam and while googling it found out that it actually exists on mobile platform. So since it already exists we can talk about including it with the steam version since android systems allows for it.

And on an off-chance that the game actually does have a mobile version, like StS here, why would anybody give it to you for free?

First of all I have paid for the game already. They hired people to transfer the game - they used my money for it. Second of all I was planning to pay again on steam. Third - when I found out it was on Google play the first thing I did was go there to buy it. But for nationalistic reasons that way is not an option for me and not because of my decisions. So why do you even ask this stupid question why I expect it for free?
For all I know Valve might even actively disallow this, it could be a headache for them if it makes them responsible for another platform.
For all i know there is no reason for it and different games provide the most diverse bonuses for their purchases. Some provide in-game avatars, some promote their plush toys, valve themselves for example send you real world figurines of Roshan and aegis for buying battlepass up to 1000-2500 levels. If valve disallows it I would like to hear it from them and developers. There are in-game items that provide real life toys and reap life toys that unlock in-game items in steam.
even if they did, how would royalties then be handled for the studio that did the Android port? They get paid based on Android sales, if it was given away on Steam then there'd be no way to accurately determine their fair cut.
The same way everyone else gets their fair cut for their work. The same way soundmaker get their cut for selling the soundtrack, the same way artists have their cut for selling the artbooks and concept art. The same way people making dlc getting their cut or people making enchanted editions/remakes get their cut.

And if it's still such a hard problem for you - just make two editions with different price - one with apk included and one base game - then pay the cut based on the difference in price. Problem solved in less than a minute of actually thinking.

Also considering you don't see the limits of what can be sold on steam here is an example https://store.steampowered.com/app/2393122/Desktop_Dungeons_Rewind__Goat_Food__Huge_Tip_for_the_Team/
If I can but this on steam there is no reason why additional file will make a problem.

If you think that buying a game on one platform should give you ownership of the game on ALL platforms, then the price will need to be adjusted accordingly.
And where did you see me having any problem with that? Adjust the price, put apk in. Make a 'complete/ultimate edition" with game version for Mac, PC and android. And why you never complain about games that are sold both for PC AND Mac os? For the single price at that. Why you do not complain about game having 32 and 64 bit versions for single price? All of those require making them for different platforms. And yet steam provide them for single price and so does gog.

Also what about downfall?

Also since you all haven't seen much you know what? Google steam gog connect.

Does what? Add apk? Did you read my previous post? Everyone add whatever they wish.

First of all - how is this relevant.
Second of all - if I find one will it guarantee me an apk for StS?
