Also note that it's not a Roguelite. The one defining factor of Roguelites is that they have significant permanent progression, and this game doesn't.
Unlocking new cards ? What do you mean run length is unusally long ? It's far shorter than say BOI. You could not be more wrong.
You don't start with any of the new cards. It's horizontal progression, not vertical progression. The whole point of Roguelites is that they have vertical progression, hence the "lite" (light) component of the name.
"Die and retry" type games typically have very short runs. FTL and Slay the Spire have some of the longest at one or two hours per run. I haven't played BoI in years but StS runs most definitely aren't "far shorter".
You must be trolling ? You unlock new cards that show up later on in runs ? Just like BOI another rogue LITE. I dunno some kids man. I don't know how slowly you play this game but it does not take more than 40 minutes to do a run.
Like I said, that's horizontal progression; you don't get those cards/relics at the start. You always start with the same weak deck every time.
The term "Roguelite" was invented by the developers of Rogue Legacy specifically to indicate that there was vertical progression, making the game "light"er. Any game that doesn't have vertical progression simply cannot be a Roguelite. BoI is most definitely not a Roguelite.
The vast majority of players have never completed a run in under 40 minutes. The average run length is way, way above that.
For real ? I beat it with both characters in like 5. Not much to it.
It is not very hard game when you know what you are doin and have atleast a bit of luck. For example you can literally do no mistake and easily lose. Prety sure you either lucked out or had really good knowledge prior to playin this game man. I myself have completed the first or second run (not sure) with Ironclad when i still had kinda no idea what i was doin. Managed to get to the end, didnt take single dmg in the last fight and completely obliterated the boss in few hits. Had score of 800. Literally my second run was the best. Never again had a run this good. Then i played until i unlocked everything with Ironclad. Oh boy then the silent happened. Man. I read a single guide out of sheer curiosity. Turtle style silent. Prior to that i have played like 3 silent runs and didnt got to the last boss at all. After i read the guide i proceed to literally do what it said. Boy starting was kinda rough but around mid game, i took no dmg in encouters as silent. It has taken almost 2h to complete that run but it was an insane win even against time eater. Wich literally got procced 12 times every turn except few. Had still 96%ˇhp at the end (wich i started with ) 300 block and the time eater had like 60+ str buff and didnt managed to do a single hp of dmg. Its literally the only run where i felt like i cant lose no matter what.
TL,DR: When you know what you are doin even before the game is started you might think this game is easier than others. Shocker. Still cant do ♥♥♥♥ when rng gods says no. In this game the most important thing is to adapt on the fly. So now if you manage atleast a 10 win streak with both characters thats when ill accept your opinion that this game is easy.
I mean I know what I'm doing as it's not an overly complex game lol. Don't think anyone should be baffled by it.
