Slay the Spire

Is there any reason to fight the heart?
I fought it for the first time and it seems designed to be completely impossible against most builds. Do you unlock anything by killing it? I think I'd have a lot more fun stopping at act 3.

There is. If you don't beat the heart, you'll be stuck in the spire forever, doomed to repeat your ascent but never actually succeed in slaying the spire. Which is, y'know, the whole point.

Beta art like the amazing ram page or double tab or meteor strike. ( •ᴗ•)

Also, you can do it for the fun, the challenge, the glory, the obsessive need for completion, the knowledge that you haven't actually beaten the game until you defeat the heart, and the respect of those in the STS community, who will just dismiss you and any opinions you have if you never manage to beat the final boss. So there's a whole bunch of reasons!:steamhappy:

If you play 200 hours or more , the heart is no longer an impossible enemy , even in a20. So practice more.I also thought as you when I first met the heart.

Frankly, I don't really feel as though I've "won" a run unless I kill the heart.

Your game, get your fun however you want to. If the heart represents an un-fun obstacle, you're welcome to ignore it.

* It's a fun challenge
* It's arguably the Real Win
* It's worth a lot of points if you're trying to improve your leaderboard standing

Also that screenshake and music are siiiick

F*ck the Heart's guards tho LOL

Lol. If you don't intend to fight the heart then why even purchase the game in the first place.

Because the game is fun and a lot of builds that wont work against the heart still work in act 3, e.g. a 5 card deck that uses anger and demon form to kill time snail, or grand finale builds.

It is an optional extra challenge and fighting it requires you to build towads it. At some point you'll just want to try it and have fun fighting/beating it. Until then there's no real reason to do so. I beat a20 before I attempted it for the first time.

Not beating the heart isn't really a win imo. The more you play the more you will find ways to beat it.

It is a single player game, you can do whatever you want.
I have not beaten the heard jet, but I give it a try whenever I have the cance. Usually, I build a deck to try to beat the act 3 boss. When I manage do that, then I consider it a win for myself, the heart is yust an extra for me.

This is also how the game mechanics treat it, for the record. Specifically because the Heart isn't meant to be consistently beatable.

Beating the hard unlocks beta art. The beta art is great.

But is there something after you beat heart with all characters?

Lol, yeah. All the beta art.

Fighting heart is fun, I don't always make it a priority though. Up to you, but you might as well beat the heart once for each character to unlock beta.

With the right stuff though you can easily beat the heart at earlier (and even later) ascs. Although it depends on the build (Shiv silent looking at the A20 heart like "plz have mercy" without the right relics)
