Slay the Spire
Level 4
So, I'm trying to rise in the ascension. Is there any reason for unlocking level 4 for the true ending on my runs, once I've done it already with that character? I mean, it's faster and easier to just do the normal ending, is there any profit?

Also... If you unlock it and die trying? It's considered a defeat? Or do you unlock the next ascension level anyway? I only did it once and beated it, so I'm not sure.

if you beat floor 50 then you unlock the next level...regardless of success against the heart or end bosses

Floor 50 is the boss of world 3, right?

No profit.

If you die at the 4th stage, you still unlock the next Ascension level.

No profit at all? I guess you get a bit more progress towards the card unlocks at least, or not even that?

Maybe that I guess. You unlock all the stuff fairly quickly so that hardly matters.

Once you've finished the true ending with each character once, It's pretty much for fun/challenge.

No real incentive, I plan to get 20 on all chars and then go for the heart on each. Just beating act 3 is a lot easier seeing as you don't have to build for the heart or sacrifice to get the keys.

Act 4 isn't necessary for doing ascension. Once you beat the boss of act 3, the next level is unlocked. However, I like to go for it, anyway. Largely because it helps me stay in practice and up to date on what changes that act goes through. If you beat Act 4 on a low ascension and then never do it again until A20, you are gonna be in for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ NASTY surprises. Like, really brutal ♥♥♥♥. The elites, for example, can add 2 burns into your deck with one of their attacks, and it always puts the burns at the TOP of your deck, so they're the first cards you draw!:lunar2019shockedpig: And the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ heart does 2 damage to you per card played right from the start, rather than having to buff it to 2 later on in the fight!:lunar2019shockedpig: It's a vicious, extremely tough (or at least, difficult to win) act, and I'm glad I chose to stay in practice for it.

Act 4 is an optional victory lap/extra challenge. You'll get the ascension as long as you beat act 3.

That being said, you have to beat act 4 with an ascension active in order to unlock beta art for your cards.
