Necronomicon
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I gotta say, the Necronomicon is my absolute favorite relic in the entire game. Just had a run with the Ironclad, and I absolutely deleted Deca with a single Heavy Blade+ (I think I had 16 strength at the time)
Turning one 108 damage heavy blade into two is just disgusting and I love it.
Honorable mention to Dead Branch, for causing a chain reaction of 11+ skill cards to show up. You the real MVP.

What's your favorite relic, and why?

Dead branch as ironclad. I think runic pyramid is pretty fun, but it can get your ads handed to you with the wrong curse or enemy.

Necronomicon and dead branch are both pretty great, yeah. Not sure I've really got a favorite relic since what I shoot for is based on the cards I've ended up with, but those two are consistently enjoyable. Doing the occasional snecko eye run can be a lot of fun too, but my single favorite run which was caused by a relic was dead branch in a solid shiv deck. I still really remember that one fondly.

Speaking of which Starflight, just so you don't end up with the same mistaken impression I had, if you've got necronomicon and you play whirlwind it'll double it up at the energy cost you paid. I avoided using whirlwind with necronomicon for the longest while since I assumed that the second use would trigger with 0 energy but that's not the case. Felt like an idiot after I heard that but it's nice to know.
If you want to utilize Necronomicon to its full potential, pair it with Blue Candle and Rupture. You can farm STR off of the Necro-curse by repeatedly playing it with Blue Candle, which is ridiculous, except against Time Eater, but even then its still pretty good.

Throw in dead branch for extreme troll.

Actually, Dead Branch ruins this build. Continually generating cards from Dead Branch will eventually force Necro-curse out of your hand.

ironclad heavy blade is good without any strength. if you get limit break+ and spot weakness, your enemy is done.

Snecko Eye, because it completely changes the way you play the game.

I've become a big fan of the Pyramid over the last week or so. So much so that the game feels weird when I don't have it. It's a bit like getting used to always having Well Laid Plans in your deck, in that it makes it so much easier to play the right card at the right time, and also enables infinite decks with larger card numbers without having to fill your deck with too many draw cards. The downside is it's usually a 1st boss relic, so it usually means dealing with act 2 with just 3 base energy. I think the upside is worth it as you rarely end a turn with unused energy to compensate.

Necronomicon is a lot of fun, but it can't beat Pandora's Box. Change all those sh*tty strikes and blocks into random cards. Changes the entire game.

Kunai is great when you're a shiv silent. Donu and Deca got easier to block every turn instead of harder.

The Spoon that gives your cards a chance not to exhaust is cool, though I haven't seen it in ages. It's a shop-only relic now.

Ice cream is a big game changer for me, saving energy for the best cards instead of striking just because the strike is in your hand. It's great with X spells like Malaise.

Self-Forming Clay is cool since taking 1 or 2 damage could end up saving you health in the long run.

Torii has probably saved me on many runs, especially against multi attacks that end up just doing 1 damage each hit.

Bag of Marbles is often cool in the right decks, giving you a better chance of taking someone out on the first turn.

I'll agree with what people have said on Runic Pyramid. Lately, when I don't take it, it's usually more because I don't want the -1 card per turn rather than not wanting to risk getting status-flooded. I had one run where I used it to Dual Wield my Reapers in a strength deck and just gain heaps of life each fight.

I've only taken Pandora's Box once, to try and save a run that was going bad, and had to spend the rest of the run trying to find cards to replace my lost defends. I think I almost won in the end though. It makes a good story but I wouldn't say it's fun.

I don't really like the event that gives Necronomicon because I don't want to risk it in a deck that can't benefit from Necro, and whenever I do want the Necro I always end up with Nilry's Codex which slows down your run too much. The third book (the one that gives you a free power) is cool though.
