Speaking of which Starflight, just so you don't end up with the same mistaken impression I had, if you've got necronomicon and you play whirlwind it'll double it up at the energy cost you paid. I avoided using whirlwind with necronomicon for the longest while since I assumed that the second use would trigger with 0 energy but that's not the case. Felt like an idiot after I heard that but it's nice to know.
The Spoon that gives your cards a chance not to exhaust is cool, though I haven't seen it in ages. It's a shop-only relic now.
Ice cream is a big game changer for me, saving energy for the best cards instead of striking just because the strike is in your hand. It's great with X spells like Malaise.
Self-Forming Clay is cool since taking 1 or 2 damage could end up saving you health in the long run.
Torii has probably saved me on many runs, especially against multi attacks that end up just doing 1 damage each hit.
Bag of Marbles is often cool in the right decks, giving you a better chance of taking someone out on the first turn.
I'll agree with what people have said on Runic Pyramid. Lately, when I don't take it, it's usually more because I don't want the -1 card per turn rather than not wanting to risk getting status-flooded. I had one run where I used it to Dual Wield my Reapers in a strength deck and just gain heaps of life each fight.
I've only taken Pandora's Box once, to try and save a run that was going bad, and had to spend the rest of the run trying to find cards to replace my lost defends. I think I almost won in the end though. It makes a good story but I wouldn't say it's fun.
I don't really like the event that gives Necronomicon because I don't want to risk it in a deck that can't benefit from Necro, and whenever I do want the Necro I always end up with Nilry's Codex which slows down your run too much. The third book (the one that gives you a free power) is cool though.
