The Defect is weak
I'm having a hard time beating the game with The Defect.

Recommendation for cards to fit? Right now I am currently using lightnight follow by tons of defense. Still having Time Eater for 3 consectutives runs suck balls hard for me.

Also to add to other people's observations, the Defect is very dependent on relics. Some relics can single-handedly transform your run into success like the Mummy Hand or Ice Cream.

This. Very much this.
Look at all these relics that broke the run for me.[i.imgur.com]

(Shush. I was relaxing after a long day. Point is that nothing on this list caters to Defect in particular besides letter opener. But who gives a shíte about 5 dmg aoe when you echo form defrag?)

Either all damage electric or all defense frost seems to be the way to go.

that is pretty much my strategy. 0 cost cards isn't reliable.

I am only ay Ascension 5, but a mix of both seems to work too.
Dark and plasma are too difficult to handle in that they require a good timing of card to get value out of them, while you can spam electricity and frost like there is no tomorrow.

I did go frost with him but I also had the card - can't remember the name - that gives you 2 extra orb slots so I usually had 3 frost running and 2 lightning or the reverse.

And yes, he seems heavily relic-dependent. Defragment is also key in his deck.

I don't even bother replying to this kind of thread anymore... But I recently did a level 1 run and UTTERLY DESTROYED the whole board with it only by picking up random cards.

The Defect is easily the easiest and strongest of the three classes.

My save file got deleted somehow and I didn't play for months. Won with the Killbot Supreme first try. Lightning and ice storms almost unending.
Defect is easiest.
Ironclad is mid.
Silent is hardest imo.

But it's all gravy when you know what card combos to get. All of the cards are decent, but you avoid certain cards if you have certain others. ez

Just got 3 meteor striked with snock eye on act 1 chest and the mirror relic (Dolly's Mirror? Can't remember). I also had sunder and a bunch of card draw. Add that to the list of free win relics.

About relics on Defect... I guess it is easy to make up that opinion when you think how great the class specific relics are for it. The Defect base ability/gameplay is insanely powerful but also greatly downgraded from the start of the game, both for RP and balance reasons. So of course anything which can help getting something which is good to be even better help snowballing.

Tbh, I don't think any of the classes are weaker or stronger than the other. To me, it all depends on what you're given. Sometimes I am given great choices for deck creation. Other times I can't ever get anything worthwhile to synergize. That always seems to happen to me with the Ironclad. I've ran I don't know how many times with the Ironclad and only had like two or three where my deck actually went the way I wanted it to.

For me it's the Silent that I can't get a good deck layout with. She seems particularly dependent on a couple key cards, and to get a good deck with her you usually need a solid core and you can't get away with missing any of them the way you might be able to with Ironclad or Defect. Going poison is particularly difficult because, in my opinion, you need Envenom to make it truly a strong option and that card just doesn't present itself reliably enough.

Gonna derail for a sec cuz u fokki wot m8? Envenom is among the weakest cards in the game.

Something's off with your evaluation or you happened to have snecko skull with it every time LUL

Not at all, Envenom can be quite powerful with the right deck to synergize with it. Get enough free attacks and damage in and you can stack poison on to enemies to outright crazy numbers.

Just sayin that your impression seems to stem from repeated experiences leading to a certain bias.

I mean, in the backloaded damage department which you mentioned, it's competing with noxious fumes or simple deadly poison catalyst. On the frontloaded side of things, it's competing with crippling cloud. And if we're talking about the shivs it was designed to support, it's competing with kunai and shuriken.

And let's try not to bring spirelogs into this. Its data sure seems questionable when wraith form still has such a low rating even though it's still broken despite the nerf.

TL,DR:
Fine, I shouldn't have responded to your hyperbole with a hyperbole, but it really isn't a card you get particularly excited about in the majority of your runs, and it most definitely isn't your best option for poison scaling unless you have exactly snecko skull and are desperate because you didn't find anything else, and then you get cucked by el big orb or champ metallicizing anyway.

Actual TL,DR:
I exaggerated since you did. Just trust me on this one and keep experimenting without that pricey fringe case card. You'd be surprised how woefully underwhelming it tends to be in comparison.
