meteor strike... meh.
I scanned the discussions and everyone who talks about talks about it like it's this great card, because you can recycle with plasma, etc.

sorry, but it isn't. it does very low damage for the cost, does not affect multiple enemies, requires building a deck around it, which is hard to do for a single card, and there is no way to actually buff the damage of it significantly. plus the upgrade is really weak. I mean, just 6pts more damage?

it's a terrible card, and recycle decks could do sooooo much better with just about any other damage card.

it needs a change. leave it as is, but have it affect all enemies, for example, would at least put it near whirlwind. Or, and I like this better, the overall damage is divided by the number of enemies.

so:

-starts off base 40, upgrade to 60.
-cost stays 5
-generates 1 plasma per enemy it hits.
-damage is divided by the number of enemies, so 3 enemies would take 20 damage each when fully upgraded, about 14 if not.
-a single enemy would take 60 damage, 40 if not.
-3 plasma would be generated if there are 3 enemies, 1 plasma if only one enemy.

this would make the card MUCH more interesting and fun to play. think about it... if you are facing large groups of say 5 enemies, you are only going to do 8 damage to each enemy, but you will generate 5 plasma, making it much more likely you will be able to pull it back and cast it again.

People primarily like it because it enables infinites, and the flaws you listed are largely irrelevant to the utility aspect that makes it occasionally reasonable when trying to play optimally.

Cases I remember off the top of my head involve consistency for snecko eye, power plays or marginal scaling with runic pyramid, and stacking energy for ice cream tempest.

I'm ok with making it legit aoe (not your pseudo-aoe) for those snecko eye moments vs gremlin leader or reptomancer (which in fairness makes it worse in other scenarios), but linking plasma to the number of enemies has more downsides than upsides, both in terms of fun and viability.

TL,DR:
There aren't many good reasons to pick it outside of doing fun stuff, but that makes it sorta special, like flex. Isn't that nice?

"There aren't many good reasons to pick it outside of doing fun stuff,"

er, that fun stuff isn't that fun, can be done better with other cards, and doesn't make meteor unique.

*shrug*

my way would actually make it fun to play in far more circumstances.

it should be changed.

It is the most fun card in the game in my opinion. Crazy snecko eye builds with 1-3 meteor strikes is just crazy and exciting. I disagree with these suggestions and say leave it as is.

that's just it... how many times do you actually get to make a build like that?

which makes the card on its own... useless.

your take just reinforces what I'm saying.

4 wins from it after 6 attempts at working it so no it doesn't. You just dont take it unless you know you can make it work.

There are a lot of rare cards in the game that are useless by themselves but, with the right support, are extremely powerful. This is one of them.

Pretty much, a meteor deck is similar to a searing blow or grand finale deck: takes quite a bit of setting up/ management for it to work, and usually doesn't have enough damage to get you through the fight before you start to suffer as you have nothing else to play that's useful. I see them as B tier decks, but also meme decks on the turns that they work like you want them to.

Of these decks, I like Grand FInale the most. It's actually very easy to make work if you obtain it as your starting reward. Since all you really need is card draw, which Silent gets plenty of.

I'm still only around 80% sure this isn't some Andy Kaufman-esque satire.
