Better than the hearthstone dungeon run modes?
Hi there i play lots of card games, ive played this game maybe 1 year ago and found it severely lacking in variety.

have they made things more interesting?

Game has more content now, especially act 3 which was super samey back then. Although, if you prioritize quantity over quality, I guess hs pve has that going for it, whether or not you were around for the third character's release.

This game isn't comparable in any way to Hearthstone. Even the Dungeon Run in Hearthstone has absolutely no similarities. There's no mana ramp like in HS, the life totals aren't relatively fixed, etc...

Heartstone is only good at pvp battles. The PVE features are boring and easy.
This game is only PVE and the balancing is real good, the different things are plenty (i play over 40 hours now and i even see some new events or cards after this long playing).

Myself i play Heartstone only a few hours/days after a new expansion but i get bored really fast.

If you like PVE Card battles, then this game is the best thing that you can play now.
