okay maybe not the 3rd floor, but early enough where maybe your deck isn't developed yet.
They put that bastard so you can lose all your hp unless you have an op attack set at the beginning, which you usually don't. It's just free HP loss. That elite is trash amongst trash.
horrible design in fact
But consider this - in Act 3 there are:
- Giant Head which is basically death if you have a slow-playing deck.
- Awakened One that is again easy death if you have a power-based deck
- Time eater bad if you have a deck with low-cost cards (i.e. Silent's shivs are awesome if you have a deck based on them since they either cost 0 or 1 if you have specific cards, but they need to be played in big numbers, which in this case gives Time Eater a buff)
All of these are in Act 3 when you already have a very specific deck of cards that you can't change much.
In comparison, during Act 1 where Gremlin Nob (the red demon) appears you still have big enough versatility and not that much cards to be skill based.
and awakened one has been nerfed a lot of times
and all of those are in act 3 where you should have a functional deck while big red happens in act1 where there is a good chanse you havnt even seen a worthwhile attack card
but doesnt matter what you find or want to build , act 1 is pick up all attack cards and ruin your future builds just because that stupid elite exists
thats bad design
strike and defend is not versatility, its the worst cards in the game and poor you if you saw a good skill card you wanted to pick up because you might aswell give up
Ever heard of jaw worm or cultist with or without friend? Ever met an old gremlin protected by a shield boi and a weakening boi with a high damage boi for good measure? What about bursting down an outward sentry so you don't have to take 9 damage twice every second turn? Do you not care about getting a good slime boss split either?
TL,DR:
Hate Nob all you want, but don't act like a few all-rounder cards ruin your favorite theme deck.
If you're not fooling around at base difficulty, what are you doing fawning over them to begin with?
The reason why you die to gremlin nob is because you always take removal option as a whale bonus and then removing a strike at the first shop, instead of doing something that can actually improve your deck.
Would be that elite fight with the 3 slavers. Whatever happen you just can't get out of this fight without serious bruises. Even the Goblin Nob is a joke in comparison because I regularly fight the Nob without getting hit seriously.
Most annoying Elite: Giant head. If I'm running a slow deck I avoid all elites on act 3 because of that guy.
Most annoying boss: the champ. Constant debuffs, getting rid of his own debuffs, disgusting execute attack, tons of health... I hate everything about that guy.
