I believe it is possible because this was only my first attempt and I made a few mistakes but still got nearly 9/10 of the way there. I took omamori when I shouldn't, and turned down multiple chances to get curses. Also I realised a bit too late that doing normal fights was more rewarding than elites because of the increased chance to fight 2+ enemies. I was doing elites because normal enemies didn't give card rewards so that was a +2 from singing bowl, but +4 feeds were probably better.

so far i have gotten just over 454 max hp with the Glutton character in endless (before getting muzzled)... i think some the cards still can lower your max a bit, so it dropped down to 454 now... but now that game is on Ascension 5, and floor 296, but keeps crashing every 1 or 2 battles - it was fun though :)
(i think) its the bronze minion crashing now, or something triggered after an attack card but not sure:
