Slay the Spire
How does 'Fairy in a bottle' work?
Hello, I'm new to this game and I've gotten addicted. I've gotten this potion before, but I left it in my inventory but I don't know if it did anything or not. So how exactly does it work?
The description is, "When you would die, heal to 10% of your max HP instead and discard this potion"

To ask again, how does it work?

You should just revive one time upon death and the bottle is consumed.

1. As the description states, if you die, the potion is used automatically and you revive with 10% of your max HP healed. So it's like saving one of your potion slots for a revival

2. If you revive during combat, the potion could not protect you from attacks after the one you died from.

Lets say an enemy in the front intends to attack for 13 and the enemy in the back intends to attack for 11. If you died after taking 13 damage from the front enemy and revive, you'll still take 11 damage after you revive from the back enemy

Thank you both! I wasn't sure if I drink it for it to work or not, so this helps! :steamhappy:

Be careful about attacks that are #x#. If you die to the first hit, revive, and don't have enough health to survive the next hit, you will still die.

Also, there's an event in Act 3 which has an option that goes, "Upgrade All Cards; You can no longer heal". If you take that, Fairy in a Bottle won't work anymore either. A lot of people mistake that for a bug.

Fairy in a Bottle is *not* consumed automatically! Learned that on the next to last turn of the third boss. :(

This is the only way for it not to be automatically consumed, and the text for obtaining this relic should be a no-brainer why it doesn't work. "You can no longer Heal". There is no option to drink Fairy in a Bottle. It only consumes on Death.

It is, but there are a couple of ways you could die anyway. As mentioned above, if you've taken the "Mark of the Bloom", then your life can never go up. But also, if an enemy uses an attack that hits more than once, you can die, be revived, then get hit by the rest of the attack and just die again. So that could also have happened.

Wow, thanks! Yeah I came here for this, definitely thought it was a bug.. I get why this works in terms of balance changes, but would have been nice for the UI to indicate that this potion is no longer active I guess... I was banking on the potion and it ruined my run

The potion is still active, it just wont heal you.
Fairy in a Bottle: "When you would die, heal to 30% (60%) of your Max HP instead and discard this potion."
Mark of the Bloom: "You can no longer heal"
