Ironclad is weakest or game is too hard? Impressions from a new player
First of all, i have to say i have about 5 hours into the game and i decied to play the Ironclad, only him because i like the character and his skills.
The sillent is good but a lot of people say he is easy mode and that might be true, the other cyclops character can be fun but he reminds me of that Dota hero so i don't him.
The game is harder that it was before(saw videos since launch) but this is just to balance out the super aggresive builds that people used to speedrun the game.
Some enemies are unfair and the game has the most stric meta i have ever experience. By the meta i mean it's very hard to kill a new boss, you need to know what he does and some tactics, even some cards that are better.
My biggest problems were:
1) I didn't use potions in regular/elite fights, didn't try to use the artefacts to my advantage, didn't know how to use the shops
2) The meta about the mobs, elites, bosses and what cards/artefacts you can get
3) I was almost hoping for RNG to save me
I have failed at the first bosses 3 times but they were 3 different bosses wich is amazing.
So i just killed The bronze automaton and i got killed by a new elite(they are harder than the bosses sometimes) because i didn't know what he did.
I have more videos on the game and i will continue to play the ironclad until i can be decent at speedrunning the game. Playing a game enough to try to speedrun it means it's such a great game.
One of the best games this year(or next year, depends when it's full release).
The game doesn't need to change much, people need to practice more even if it's unfair.

I win the most reliably with Ironclad. The one thing I will say is that pure strength builds are very very difficult to pull off. Shield builds though are damn near broken. You're not reliant on just finding "Barricade" either. I've won a bunch of shield focused runs with Ironclad where I never ran across barricade. Ironclad decks built around Body Slam (a fairly common card) can be beastly.

The ironclad is actually my favorite class but I don't find him too weak. I find the automaton much harder to play because his skills seem all over the place and I haven't the feigntest idea of how to use many of them.

I will agree though that the Silent seems to be the easiest class. Just stacking poison skills and defense will get you very far.

As for the ironclad gain, I find his most important skills are those that let you draw or rearrange your top draw. Especially that card that let's you draw 3 for 0 mana. That's just bonkers. Pick it up whenever you have the chance to do so. Same goes for the card that let's you sacrifice 6 life points for drawing and regaining mana. On the offensive side a great card is Rampage, the attack that increases its damage by 8 each time you play it. It's bascially a 1 card win condition for boss fights. It works better the smaller your deck is.

In general this is something I had to grap first about this game. Having a smaller deck is actually better than a larger one. Smaller deck means repeatedly drawing the same powerful cards over and over. The developers puts lots of mechanics in the game that punish a small deck (like the curses) but still you shouldn't automatically add a card to your deck whenever you have the option.

I hope that helps.

Ironclad is by far the easiest and most simplest character to win with.

Ironclad is the strongest out of the three, with even basic cards his strength can reach insane levels, doing hundreds of damage per turn.

Considering his starting Relic is one of the best Relics in the game I'd say he's far from the weakest...and his playstyle is the most basic and simplest he's just a strength/hp based Fighter type.

I play the Silent mostly lately she doesn't seem the easiest to me..she has a lot of #### cards and her starting Relic is kind of meh.

I find him the weakest also. I'd say Defect > Silent > Iron.

Iron is the easiest to play but slightly weaker, Silent is hard to master but great, Defect is nearly op imo.

I have no idea how to play defect lol. I cleared act 3 with both silent and iron once.

Defect doesn't run like the other two do. He's mostly best with stacking his Frost orbs for automatic defense, and then either spamming orb evocations or stacking Focus, which is used in a more hybrid role.

The Defect has by far the most powerful Powers of the three, allowing him to double all the cards he plays for free, make his lightning orbs hit every enemy, give him massive retaliation potential, and even allowing him to heal. Creative AI even spawns you more powers every turn. The Awakened One is SUPPOSED to counter the Power build, increasing its strength with each power you play, but the Defect's combo potential is so strong with his powers that you can spam them in perpetuity if you have the defense to back them up.

The Defect is almost always a very slow build. VERY slow.

Alternatively, the Zer0 build allows the Defect to massively cycle through their deck. It's the fastest killing deck in the entire game because of how quickly it ramps. Using Claw over and over again, sometimes 7 or 8 times in a single turn. But the problem with the Zer0 build is that it requires a very specific set of cards to run properly, OR a VERY small deck (and Unceasing Top). The Zer0 build also gets completely wrecked by the stupid Sluggo.

If you're having trouble winning the base game with Ironclad (or any character for that matter), then you main issue is card valuation. Reasses your valuation of the different cards and artifacts, because that is THE thing holding you back. You're focusing on improvements that are of miniscule effectiveness, compared to simply picking better.

Things change in the higher ascendancy levels, but at that point it's a different game entirely. If you have any trouble getting at least 3 winstreak on basic mode then your valuation is the main factor.

I have 19 Ascension level with Ironclad and Defect and 18 with Silent, so I dont think, what Ironclad is more weak than Silent.
I hate to think about health, and although Silent has very strong cards, its not comfortably to play this character for me.

I just beat the game first try with the Ironclad, so it can't be that hard.

Defect seems the weakest to me but maybe I've just had some unlucky runs with him
Neyreyan_Youtube Dec 25, 2018 @ 4:42pm
I finished the game, was a bit hard because i don't know all the artifacts and i still make mistakes but i killed the awakened one.
It's pretty clear when you can finish the game.
Sometimes you can finish the game even with trash cards, don't know what to say about chapter 3 gameplay because it's pretty random. Sometimes an elite is unbeatable but other times you can just fly through the game.
I am still enjoying myself with the game and i will finish it with all the characters:D

Defect is actually the best (objectively, of course. subjectively, personal preference) for Act 4. He's less reliant on super good RNG so much as "not bad" RNG. On the other hand, he's a bit slow to start ramping up. He does pretty okay with 3 energy too, which helps if you get unlucky with boss relics.

I'd definitely say Ironclad and Silent tend to be better for non-ascension/early ascension/faster runs.

Invoker, that guy with the orbs is Invoker.
