Offering Golden Idol

I offered the Golden Idol to the statue with hands held out (forget the name of the event) and it said that I would recieve a special relic and lose the Golden Idol (or at least that is what I gathered from it) but after the colour drained from the Golden Idol I received no new relic. I don't know if this is supposed to happen, a glitch, or simply something that has not been implemented yet but thought I should at least report it.
