Card Discussion - Perfected Strike

Common
Deal 6 damage. Deals an additional +2 (+3) damage for ALL your cards containing "Strike".

I'm wondering what people think of this card, would you consider it good, bad, maybe it could be useful in certain situations or maybe it will always be a waste of a draw.

My opinion:

I actually really like this card, it does a decent amount of damage for its cost early on and can be fairly powerful if built around. Though when building an average deck I find that this card generally restricts you, forcing you to either keep your starter Strike cards in order to maintain Perfected Strike's power or risk it becoming a dead draw due to its high cost. This card does appear regularly due to its common status making it reliable to build around but a dead card for any slim deck.

I dont take it because the restriction is too bad for the value.
A 2 cost card with a damage around 20 is not good compared to other cards. At the beginning the damage is fine but in stage 2 or 3 or in higher ascension modes you need more damage and you only get it grom STR buffs and multiple attack cards.
Also you want to get rid of all base cards as soon as possible, keeping them results in a very slow deck and a even worse lack of damage.

I never pick it. For Strength builds I prefer the Heavy one, for Armor builds it's obviously bad, for Exhaust decks it's also way too weak.

Perfected Strike kind of an odd card in that it's a great addition to substandard decks, but having it kind of limits your ability to make your deck truly efficient. That said, you can't always thin your deck the way you'd want, and you can definitely win by taking every Strike you see if enough of them are Perfected Strike, ideally with draw cards like Battle Trance or Offering to compensate for the fatness of your deck.

I would almost always avoid it, although I have had a few fun runs where I pulled it as my first card and then took every strike I saw. Having a few copies of a card that deals 60ish for 2 mana is a joy. But in just about any other circumstance (or just higher ascension in general) it is not a good pick.

It's a situational card, sure. For it to work well, you need to build your whole deck around it. So best to pick it early on. Not the strongest build, but well enough to pull a win. There is nothing wrong with it. I think it is pretty well balanced for what it does.

I think it's a worse Carnage: a card you take when you need a good early attack, and then you don't really care about it later. Sometimes you can get lucky and get 4 or so of them and then you can run an actual Perfected Strike deck but that's not consistent.

I never take that card, since I usually build block decks that would require removing strikes

I never take this card. Floodijg my deck isnt a fun idea. Upgraded heavy strike is better even with a single inflamed.

I don't see it as workable:
1: It costs 2 energy (already a high ask for an attack card)
2: It requires you to retain your strikes (substandard attacks that are generally gotten rid of asap)
3: 9 (12) damage per energy isn't particularly impressive compared to many other options.
4: +1 (+1.5) damage per energy per additional card with Strike added is lackluster scaling too.
5: Its not particular impressive as an early game 'crutch' card.

I like the concept of something which wants you to keep Strikes but it doesn't offer nearly enough to be worthwhile. Possible alternatives:

A: 2 Energy: Until end of turn, cards with Strike in their name cost 0 to play (and draw 1 card)
B: 1 Energy. Deal 9 damage. Cards with Strike in their name deal +1 (+2) damage.
C: 1 Energy: Deal 6 damage, +2 (+3) damage per card with Strike you've played this combat.

I considered this card really good until I unlocked better card options. Nothing much more to say about it.

I dont pick this card simply because i remove normal strikes from my deck whenever i get the chance and the only other strike card is pommel strike , wild strike and twin strike to buff its damage.Wild Strike is better with evolve and exaust cards and twin strike is just better with STR build. Heavy blade is a lot better with a single inflame or find weakness.

Imo Headbutt , iron wave , reckless charge and / or uppercut should their names changed to include strike

or

Move Perfected Strike to rare slot and increase bonus damage to 6 and to 9 when upgraded so it doesnt just lag behing heavy blade so much.

Perfected Strike build is easiest build in the game. Does not require special skills from the player. Just take this card and all strikes except wild strike. Upgrade Perfected Strike, get headbuts and +draw cards. You will need some balanced defense. At least one -3 strength card. Do not focus on strength (perfected strike do not benefit greatly from it) or other powers.
In general it's average card. I would not buff or nerf it.

I’d take it but not build around it too much. It can do some serious work if you dual wield it a couple times.

One of the few consistent gimmick-cards in this game. You always run into pommel and twin strikes. Heavy Strike and other Perfected Strikes also count.
