Yea. That's what i try to do. I just had a run where i tried to focus on a shiv theme, but failed to get good cards for it. It always seems that my deck suffers in a some way due to rng. I thought it was a decent deck until i faced the act 1 boss that was the one that puts those damage cards into your deck. I only had 2 discard cards, thanks to RNG, and got burnt to death due to that.
I love this game and hate this game.
Obviously, the newer you are the more runs you will have that it's simply not feasible for you to win. That's kind of the point of the game. Once you can reliably beat the game it becomes a hell of a lot less fun, although the ascensoin update did change that a bit.
You are not playing the game wrong because you die. You are playing the game. Make every run an opportinuty to learn more about how the cards work together and which are more important. That's what the game is about :)
2. Don't pick curse for more gold unless you have the relic to counter it.
3. Stick to 1-2 winning conditions. For example, rampage + headbutt, heavy blade + flex, body slam + barricade. It depends on what cards they drop you.
