Ring of the Snake is a terrible Starting Relic and should be re-worked or changed!
Ring of the snake is just terrible starting relic. It doesn't offer anything good really other then MAYBE letting you get to your setup sooner with 2 extra card draw but as a starting relic, it is just trash. The Ironclad's starting relic is wonderful, it gives him healing and a unique mechanic to his runs. Ring of the snake is NOT unique at all, it is the exact same thing as Bag of preparation. How can it be called "unique" if there is another relic that does the Same thing that ANY character can get?

If they want the Silent to have extra card draw as his "unique" Feature of the game then they should re-work the relic to be maybe one extra draw at the start of every turn instead of two at the start of combat.

I don't know, i am not a game designer so i don't know if that would be "Balanced" but as it is now its just so terrible that most of my silent wins comes from hitting the play button and chosing "Lose starting relic. Get random boss relic" and trying to forge my deck around what random boss relic i do get. There is no "Risk... Reward..." to Chosing to lose your Starting relic as the Silent because so many boss relics are just so much better.

You have the same opinion of the majority of newbies. Experienced players disagree with you but generally don't care enough about the latest dunning-kreuger to put much effort into correcting them. You'll correct yourself when you've played enough.

your telling me an extra 2 cards, AKA another 2 chances to get exactly what you need, is better then 6hp regen?

you wouldn't need the extra 6 hp if things died before they hit you cause you get what you wanted.

Choosing to obtain a random boss relic is most definitely a risk. Calling Bell and Pandora's Box both have the potential to end your run if you get them at the start.

Imo the silent has a better starting deck because of Neutralize, so it balances out

Well i don't know, it just seems un-unique in fact it and preparation are the only two relics that are the exact same. The game list the bag as a common relic so wouldn't that make the ring also common? It might be good sometimes but if the game developers are trying to make every relic unique then the ring or bag should definitely be changed. I vote the ring.

Whole purpose of the ring is to be a primer. Gives you more draw chances to set up your combos.

Wouldn't it be better to get +1 per turn instead of +2 on the first? It would make it unique and flow better with her 12 card starter deck.

I don't know, maybe it's just my Dunning-Kruger kicking in.

yes that would be better in the long run, but thats not the point, the relic is meant to front load your first turn so you can snowball, rather then to give you more choice in the long run

It's pretty good in a lot of ways. Gets you throught to your better cards faster, gives you more options your first turn, etc. It's not as much of a blunt instrument as gaining back 6hp per combat.

It's a pretty awful relic tbh. Literally just a re-skinned bag as others have mentioned. Her starting relic would be better off it it was something that gels well with her kit. Like the "Poison passes onto the next enemy upon death." thing.

Ironclad's relic is great because it lets him use the HP costing cards in his deck without worrying of killing himself before the next campfire.

I agree. I don't think the game is meant to have starting relics that are equal in power.

It does well with her card cycle, makes it more consistent that you can get it going from the first turn. Relic isn't nearly as good in the early game as Ironclad's, but I'm glad I have that extra draw later on once I get a deck going.

Silent has a better deck, worse relic

Ironclad has worse deck, better relic

Who cares just play the game

Beat Ascension 10 on both classes and can do so relatively consistently at this point ~35% win rate on ascension 10. I think The Silent's relic is better at the higher ascensions. Ironclad's is better for early game (and from ascension 1-7), but Silent allows you to consistently draw your win conditions on earlier turns (better mid/late, consistent early). If you have a small deck (I aim for around 20-25 cards at the end of Act 3), Silent's relic is a huge advantage.

That being said, I would not take Ironclad's relic on Silent and I would probably not take Silent's relic on Ironclad (but I would consider it). I think their relics make sense in respect to their cards and viable decktypes.
