Ascension mode?

So I was told that if I get to the heart 5 times or kill the 3 different bosses than ascension would open up but that seems to not be the case here

You can see ascension mode in the character selection screen at the bottom of the screen.

If you unlock ascension for 1 character, it is only for that character only (say you unlock for ironclad, you still can't play ascension for the silent).

well isnt it if you kill the 3 bosses as the different classes than it unlocks or get to the heart 5 times as different classes? Ive heard that from a lot of people and you saying this is a first

Most recently that I'm aware of, you unlock ascension mode by unlocking all card unlocks for a class. So its not beat the final box X times - it was gain enough points to have unlocked the entire class.

At different points during beta, this might have changed. For all I know, its changed since I unlocked it!

Looking at my achievements and stats, it seems that it's just the three bosses. Three bosses as in, Donu & Deca, The Awakened One, and Time Eater. I was thinking that maybe you also need to complete a run with each character, but defect was unlocked just recently so idk, prbly not. It's not 5 successful runs as I unlocked it with just 3.

ascension mode is acquired for a character by beating the final boss at the current highest level of ascension. then a checkbox and a value you can raise and lower to your current ascension level will appear. it is per character but it doesn't require anything super special.

How can I play ascension if I dont have ascension in the first place

Beat the game 5 times with any character
Or
Beat all 3 endgame bosses

will unlock ascension mode.

Unlocking ascension unlocks for all characters.

Once unlocked each character has to beat an ascension level to get access to the next.

I got to the heart (beat the game) 6 times already and ascension isnt open yet at all
