My base strategy is to go to ? places to get relics/remove card and to remove starting cards.
And in details, the most effective strategies:
Ironclad:
- strength (inflame, spot weakness, limit break / demon form but you will need the anchor, 10 starting block, orichalchum 6 defense if 0 defense...) + heavy blade + some defense (could be none but it's risky)
- full defense (no attack except body slam, barricade, entrench, impervious /with or without exhume). You can go with power throught (15/20 blocks with 2 wounds) if you have evolve (you draw when getting a would)
The silent:
- poison (noxious fumes, catalyst, bouncing flask) + defense (as many footworks as you can basically and backflip which draws 2 cards).
- or more simply taking every power you can find, that makes you win most of the time.
But, sometimes, you can't go for that and you will need to invent something new, based on your cards and relics. Most of the time, it fails but when it works, it's really satisfying.
UNLESS you get a relic or card that synergizes with Curses, which then, get all the curses! I know 2 relics that would really help:
Blue Candle
... ... and some other damn one that was a voodoo doll or whatever it was called. Gives you strength for the amount of curses in your deck,
