Slay the Spire
Do you think artifact potion is useless?
I've been thinking, why is there such a big difference beetwen potions' usefulness? When you are playing defensively, dexterity potion could be a savior if you saved it for the boss fight, same with the strength potion while playing agressively.

Regen, block, energy and poison potions are all right.

But what's up with potion that gives you invulnerability from the next debuff?

The reason I'm starting this discussion is I think this is not intentional, but more of a defect. It is a part of the game design that some cards or relics are bad for particular decks. But this potion is just a joke, in my opinion. Its absolutely useless, it gives you protection just for a one single debuff, it doesn't protect you from wounds, and enemy just debuffs you again one turn later, or his ally debuffs you right away.

I think this potion should give you at least 3 artefact or maybe also protect you from wounds. 85% of the time I just discard it to make room for something (anything) else. What do you think?

Snecko, Chosen, and Spheric Guardian (5 Frail is painful) are the main ones you want to use it against, so basically keep them if you are heading to Area 2, but dump them after you've completed it.

Nay, you can block important debuffs or currently combo it with IC flex, currently when you end your turn with it and flex, the flex debuff will eat it and you are left with the str.

... Artifact Potion is one of the best potions. Aside from Dexteritiy, I almost always want one on hand for Act2/3. It completely trivialises a lot of encounters, such as the Chosen, Sphere Guardian, and in other cases it's still far from horrible blocking a vulnerability debuff at a bad time VS normal enemies. Timing is everything with the Artifact Potion though.

It's not a great potion VS Bosses, and is slightly situational, but just because YOU don't realise how good it is doesn't mean it's bad.

It can block Entangled. It can also block a debuff from an enemy serpent (still in Beta methinks) on Act 3 which damages you for 10 each turn. Might also block Hex, not sure.

also Snecko (kinda), early Vulnerable by Nob, early Frail by Cleric, Weak against the Slime or gremlin Group, Vulnerable or Weak against Taskmaster, Weak against Gremlin Leader. The list goes on.

Even if it doesn't feel amazing, sometimes the small tempo advantages make a big difference.

I always keep one on hand against chosen. Honestly, it's one of the two potions I'm actively on the lookout for (the other being Dex potion)

Yeah. One of the best potions to have tbh.

It's well balanced. Every potion has its uses in certain encounters or with certain decks. I'd say the energy potion is generally the least useful, but even it can be clutch on occasion.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
