If liking the phenomenal artsyle of the boardgame Abyss (by Xavier Colette) is considered to be in bad taste, then so be it
I'd rather feast my eyes upon something that is visually appealing than something that looks like a kindergarten attendee's wet dream. Still, waiting for a dev response on the matter.
I am not entirely sure how you want it improved? I mean the images could be done at a higher resolution and scaled down I suppose.
It may be better to provide an example of a game closer to sts in nature. Most of what I see is character portraits.
And if you think this is kindergarten grade work, I dare you to provide better art for 10 cards of your choosing and 1 character.
It just the way it goes with any roguelike.
Mechanicly this game is great and worth getting.
However, whoever did the particle effects is really out of touch with what looks good and had no business handling that task. You don't just take a candle flame image and spawn it with +100 Z_Speed for god's sake. It looks ridiculous and I think is only helped by the fact that nobody gives two rats about the look of the game anyway.
In the end, great game and we all know that good gameplay trumps good art.
70 x $250 = $17,500 for me to do it.
Honestly, there's too many people complaining about minor things and things they personally don't like.
firstly, it could demoralize the devs and artists and they just feel.. sluggish and hurt.
secondly, REAL issues get buried in the sea of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and "wahhhh the game's too hard"
"the game's too easy now"
"this patch sucks"
If you don't like it, make your own damn game. Jesus, sorry for ranting.
As dumb as op's request was and even if noobs are trash and litter their stupid opinions everywhere, people should still give honest feedback. Especially during early access. Devs aren't gods, they can miss stuff and sometimes they unintentionally create things greater than they can handle. If the devs are normally functioning people they should be able to tell idiot suggestions from serious suggestion.
And the devs aren't girls, they don't need you to whiteknight for them.
Edit -
They would have to keep him on the payroll for more content to keep the art style consistent, he would need to be accessible in time for patches when they need him. Time is another factor, would have to be done by summer for release.
...is it a crime to want a game that has some awesome gameplay with visually pleasing imagery? Telling me to make my own game with great art or to try and draw 10 cards in a better style than the one present in Slay the Spire is moronic, given that I am not an artist nor a game designer - I am a paying customer, a gamer that was referred to this game by some folks that spoke of it as a terrific game worth looking into. Would've even bought the game hadn't I witnessed this white-knighting and belittling for giving my opinion about the art and questioning would it change by full release (considering they made A TON of money by selling ~745,133 copies of the game so far according to SteamSpy - more than enough money to remake the art considering the game is a major success).
Have fun with slaying the Spire guys, and keep turning away potential buyers with your hateful comments and malicious intent
And FYI, yes, I am being an ass about it. I would suggest not saying something is easier than it really is in the future.
