So, that Ghost Council/Apparition event...
There's a new event you can encounter in Act 2. You can choose to lose 50% of your max HP to get 5 Apparition cards. These cards are:

1 Energy
Gain 1 Intangible (enemies only deal 1 damage per attack)
Exhaust when you play it
Ethereal (exhaust when you don'ty play it)
Upgrade: Remove ethereal (IMO not worth it)

I took it last run, and it may have ended my run (my deck kinda sucked, so it might not have made it through Act 2 anyway). Going from 70 HP to 35 on Silent is a *big* cost, and you're relying on drawing the Apparition cards often enough to offset that. One bad draw without Apparition and without any blocks is suddenly a much greater cost.

Still undecided on it. Seems like it would be decent in a slim, very agressive deck. Might be OK in a large deck without enough defense, because you could think of it as getting an extra 5 defense cards.

Thoughts?

Still, does this work if you have block, or is it like Torii on steroids?
Yep it works with block, it just straight up reduces enemy damage to 1 and yeh it stacks turns.
It's not quite the same as Torii. If you have reduced enemy STR enough that they do zero DMG, Intangible will still make them do 1 DMG, which makes sense since it says "1 DMG from ALL sources".

I lucked out, and had Runic Pyramid (no discards) when I obtained the Intangible cards. Manged to upgarde 2 of them, removing the Ethereal. It was great that I could just hold onto non-exhausting cards until I needed them. Wound up beating the Spire with a grand total of 33 HP - crazy!

I think these cards are horribad. 5 turns of intangible is just not good enough for 50% of your max HP. Without a way to dupe them or get a quick kill on a boss, they're just prolonging the inevitable. They should come without the ethereal effect and the upgrade should make them cost 0.

Reducing a Hyper Beam to only one damage for one energy is pretty neat. Also useful for those early fights where e.g. there are five blobs that all choose to attack you first turn, way before you've set up lots of block w/ Entrench and Barricade or the like.

However, rather important to either upgrade and/or combo with Burst etc, or to finish fights quickly; or else you might not have any Apparition left by the time there's a Dark Echo or Execution.

honestly this event is crazy. ive took it 4 or 5 times with almost completely different decks and would say won all of them thanks to it.. its pretty insane, it stacks the buffs so you can play multiple in a turn, with burst on silent you can get more than 5. its great for iron glad to get to barricade or demon form. for silent it pretty much lets you get any of your combos and gives you insane survivabiltiy. the 50% hp is nothing for how much survivability it gives. makes elites trivial and same with bosses. *edit for more info. i one of those games my ironclad deck was insanely slow. i still think it one me the game but after my 5 turns were up it was extremely realistic to lose. but i feel without them i wouldve lost for sure since i had bad relics on the run.

I did the event once and all I got was bad draws (almost all the apiritian cards in one hand 3;)
Hopefully the next time I see it will be more enjoyable.

Also, I love the cute Homestuck image of yours. I couldn't help but take notice, I'm sorry. >w<

Thanks! i know i love it. Im probably overselling it but its done amazing for me. i thought it was horrible until i realized it stacks. it works well with a silent deck with even just some draw. (3 silent runs i had over 30 cards with lots or minimal draw) ironclad your deck probably needs to be small for it (less than 20) it is really amazing with cycle/exhaust decks. or decks that need time to setup since it pretty much gives you 5 free turns.

It's fun that it stacks, but the issue with that is that against certain enemies, some of them debuff once or twice inbetween attacks, making stacking a bit wasteful and useless.

I got 3 of them in one hand the last time I took the event, and only 1 of them I got to upgrade. It was against the Chosen though, which really sucked, due to the switching back and forth between debuff and attack. I did get Runic Pyramid in the same run, too! Which made it easier once I got most of the apiritions upgraded.

Hopefully the next time I get the apiritions, I have a better deck ready to go.

Had a weak Silent run yesterday. Tried out the event. Was pleasantly surprised.

I didn't bother stacking them given the chance because it was more important to kill stuff faster. That's probably the kind of deck that benefits the most from this event anyway, or any deck that is rather slow to get going. Either way, helped immensely against DnD.

Didn't upgrade them either btw because I had some discard synergy, meaning I could sometimes discard excess Apparitions. I imagine they're quite ridiculous with Burst.

Question: If you use Setup on Apparition, then use Nightmare on the Apparition, will the duplicate Apparitions have zero cost?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My bet is on yes, based on how everything else gets copied over too.

This is why we need some sort of custom mode, or even Steam Workshop for one. xD
