So, that Ghost Council/Apparition event...
There's a new event you can encounter in Act 2. You can choose to lose 50% of your max HP to get 5 Apparition cards. These cards are:

1 Energy
Gain 1 Intangible (enemies only deal 1 damage per attack)
Exhaust when you play it
Ethereal (exhaust when you don'ty play it)
Upgrade: Remove ethereal (IMO not worth it)

I took it last run, and it may have ended my run (my deck kinda sucked, so it might not have made it through Act 2 anyway). Going from 70 HP to 35 on Silent is a *big* cost, and you're relying on drawing the Apparition cards often enough to offset that. One bad draw without Apparition and without any blocks is suddenly a much greater cost.

Still undecided on it. Seems like it would be decent in a slim, very agressive deck. Might be OK in a large deck without enough defense, because you could think of it as getting an extra 5 defense cards.

Thoughts?

Never seen this event before.

Is this in beta or in current release? Of course, I don't play Silent often, so this is probably a 'Silent Only' Event (Mainly because Ironclad is easier to use.)

Yeah...the fact that they're etheral ontop of being exhaust means that you'll often draw multiple and burn them out much too fast.

edit: Also the event is in currently. You can remove etheral from it by upgrading them but well 5 cards in the middle of the run it's kinda of a slim chance

It's in the most recent update (the one that came out like 2 hours ago)

Yeah, shoulda probly checked. I played about 3-4 hours ago for the daily and that was it. I'll see the new Event eventually.

Is the event only seen on the Silent or can Ironclad find it? Seems like it'd be useful for a 'defense = offense' deck against something that takes buffing from blocking/does way too much damage.

Should be for both IC and Silent.

I wonder what would happen if they upped the cost 2 and had the upgrade ALSO remove Exhaust in addition to etheral?
WarpZe Mar 29, 2018 @ 9:51pm
TLDR The ghost council card is fairly op in a deck that cycle well whether upgraded or not.

Just got the event in my run as the silent. IMO it's a pretty op card although you do get 50% max hp reduction if you choose to grab the cards. Upgrading it has it's values since you can choose when you want to use it rather than being forced to use it if you draw it. The few upgraded versions of the card proved quite useful on the last boss of this run. I nightmared the upgraded version and held onto them till the boss was doing 45x4+ hits on me which was reduced to a measly 4 damage.

I'm guessing those stack and give you more turns of said buff, like all other buffs do.

Still, does this work if you have block, or is it like Torii on steroids?

The upgraded version looks like it'd go well with Well-Laid Plan or Headbutt. For predictable enemies (e.g. to negate the first Dark Echo cast by the Awakened One at the start of its final phase, to stop the first Hyper Beam as well) there's also Setup.

Would combo well with Burst, obv.

Had a run yesterday and it was perfect for apparitions:

toxic egg so that they're all upgraded,
singing bowl to regain max hp (ended nearly with starting hp)
orichalcum so that I don't have to block the 1 damage when I used apparition.

I then turned down an energy relic for runic pyramide to keep the apparitions in hand
demon form made sure I got some scaling

That was my first ascension 15 victory with only 3 energy, even though art of war and happy flower (and very rarely sundial because I didnt play any cycle) helped out

Picked 3 times, won 3 times (2 silent, 1 ironclad), seems good lol. Deffinetely better for silent due to draw potential + discard + well laid plans.
I got it on a run earlier, and it was pretty good. I had Toxic Egg at the time, so I didn't have to worry about Ethereal.

Also found out that Intangible applies to self-damage aswell (I used Offering and it did 1 HP DMG instead of 4 HP DMG).

That's actually very good to know. Makes damage attacks less risky.

Do we know how this affects healing though? Just a thought.

I've had two wins with it already. It seems way better for IC than for Silent, it allows things like Jax and Offering to only deal 1, and it lets you create just a full offensive deck without worrying about blocking. Both the wins had cards like Bludgeon and Whirlwind, and they were both pretty mediocre before the event. Definitely not good in every deck but if you're low on block and high on attack the event is REALLY good. (Also worth noting that one of them had Runic Pyramid, and it turns out upgraded Apparitions are REALLY REALLY good with Runic Pyramid.)

Yep it works with block, it just straight up reduces enemy damage to 1 and yeh it stacks turns.
