The 5x Apparition event.

This is my last Ironclad run. It started pretty well and I got Dead Branch really early so I went for exhaust cards. I got an early Barricade. During Act 2, I think, I encountered the event where you can choose to obtain 5x Apparition in exchange for 50% of your max health. I never had the guts to try it because these events always ended up messing up my run completely. As it turned out, this was my most successful and probably the most fun run I've had until now.
I ended up with 999 block against final boss. The reason it worked is because I would be able to use Apparition cards to gain Intangible and build up my Block and activate my Power cards during those turns. By the time I used up all my intangible most of the enemies would already be dead or I would have so much armor that I was able to 1-shot most enemies with Body Slam. Feel free to try it yourself. It was glorious. Of course, none of this would have worked without Dead Branch and Corruption.
P. S. A pro would probably find a way to reduce the number of cards in the deck to make it more consistent.

You only need it to work in the short run. Nullfying 5ish turns of enemy attacks gives you all the time you need to get a big initial pile of block, and then once you start entrenching you quickly get so high that you never run out.

Yeah, the 5x apparition event is a really good one. I almost always take it unless I've already taken the vampire event.

Apparition event works great if you have an infinite or near-infinite deck that needs some setup time. Power-themed Defect benefit from the event a lot as well (it's after all cheaper and sometimes better than Buffer).

Apparition also works quite well with expensive cards (powers), copy effects and the robot's power that gives you 1(2) orbs whenever you take unblocked damage.
