What is the point of Genetic Algorithm?
All it does is give 1 block and deletes itself voiding the other part of its effect.

"Permanently" means next fight it'll be 3 block, then 5 in the next... And at the top of the Spire, maybe 37 block.

When you'll get it next battle, it will give 3(4) block instead. So I had it from the very first draw and it had around 40 block in the end. I'm not sure what's its idea, 'cause you cant realy much on block stacking anywhere aside from ironclad-bastion

The block gain persists on the card until your run ends. In other words it persists between battles.

Ok a completely trash card then.

Does Defect have a way to perserve block at all?

Basically. It's competing with piercing wail which tends to block for 12 at the very least but usually 18+ and it works on floor 1.

I think the card would be nicer if it only gained 3/4 block once per battle, but did not exhaust. But I can see other intentions for the card.

I think it's fine, it just needs to start at at least 4 block to make it worth actually playing the first few times.
Dare Evans Apr 28, 2018 @ 4:16pm
It's perfectly fine. You just need to get it early or not worry about it. Although after two uses it's already better than a Defend.

It's very useful with Calipers, but without combo it's weak.
Sarasvato Apr 28, 2018 @ 4:24pm
Maybe the upgrade version could loose both the exhaust and the block increase?

Certainly be interesting though. Hold it and use it early on, then upgrade it when you're satisfied with how much block you get. Can see it being terribly busted in certain decks, but then what isn't? It's not like you'd pick it up later in the spire as is anyway.

The nearest reference point to me is Impervious, which costs 2 and gives 30 (40) block then exhausts. This costs half as much (which is huge) but takes time to ramp up (which balances it out).

It seems okay to me, but only if you get it early. The first two uses are basically garbo, you land it when have spare energy or can afford to dilly dally rather than Strike. After that the next few uses it becomes as good as a Defend to Defend+, so you will naturally use it in lieu of them because why not. Eventually though it becomes a "1 energy: get out of jail free for this round" card that you use to fend off attacks while getting your Orb/Power combos up and running, or simply hoard for that incoming Dark Echo or whatnot.

What if every time you played one, they all upgraded?
