Snecko is an incredibly unfair, unfun fight.
The thing's randomization of card values throws strategy out the window, and it's values always average higher. Debilitatingly so. It doesn't help that the thing has buckets of health and hits like a mac truck. I'm not saying it's unbeatable, but I loathe seeing one because I know I'm going to lose buckets of health doing so. Am I the only one who hates this thing?

Considered that most of our cards are ~1 and 2 value, the randomized card value is in the high-average because there is no -1 card but only 0 in the minimum.

I almost never lose any health at all to Snecko on either class. *shrugs*

I haven't had much issue dealing with the Snecko on the Ironclad, but it is one of those encounters that I simply assume I'll take damage on. In some ways I agree it can be a little frustrating because it seems like you have the same chance of a card being free vs 3Energy. Most of the cards in the game are 1Energy which means your chances of that card costing you more is double the chance of it being free.

It is because of this fight and a few others that I NEVER discard a Relic Potion if I find one. It makes Confusion and Hex very easy to play around.

I almost feel like the best solution would be to make the fight harder and add the Snecko to the pool of Elite fights instead.

Snecko is a weird encounter because he's easier than the elites on that floor, but way harder than a lot of the casual encounters. The random chance assigns a value from 0-3, with each number having a 25% chance. If your deck is mainly 0 and 1 cost cards, yes you're going to have a rough fight, but if you balance your deck with a few 2 cost cards, there's only a 25% chance he'll make that card more expensive.

Dude above has a good idea too, a Relic Potion at the beginning of the fight will prevent confusion.

Also, drawing cards becomes more valuable in a confusion fight, because each additional draw is another chance at a free card.

TLDR Snecko is just an oddball encounter because he's either hella hard or laughably easy based on your deck comp, but he's not impossible to play around. Take Snecko eye from a boss reward once or twice, that might help you get into the right headspace to deal with him.

The fight is designed specifically to be easier for decks with a lot of high-cost cards. If you haven't notices, every fight is designed to 'punish' a certain build. For example, the fights with lots of daze or wound cards thrown at you is designed to punish slow and steady decks that rely maybe on block or poison.

Two words: Ancient. Potion. I always keep an Ancient Potion on hand to negate Snecko's confusion, cause otherwise he's a real pain in the ass. I can't tell you how many runs I lost because of him.

Snecko is a pain but rarely is he ever the reason why I lose a run. Snake Plant on the other hand... I don't know why I have so much damn trouble with that thing.

I once (stupidly) took the snecko artifact....that was a fun run.

Did you know if you try to do that against snecko, or maybe against the chosen's hex, but play battle trance that turn, it won't work as it will instead negate the card draw prevention.

Anyway though, I've never had much problem against a snecko. The random cost is as likely to help you as hurt you, and he's not that dangerous compared to a lot of other fights.

Snecko isn't a problem if you run a lot of draw, i maily play the silent and i usually have 2-3 backflips and a prepared+ by the time i encounter a snecko, if you draw 10 cards during your turn you can just ignore the fact that some are too expensive... It is true that you might get a nasty roll and just take a full hit while vulnerable, but having a terrible draw can happen everywhere, its just a bit more common.
It is kind of sad that the encounter can be both laughably easy if you end up with a full hand of early discounts and extremely painful if all the key cards of your deck stay ridiculously highly priced.

At least Snecko can be an interesting fight.

It's pretty tedious waiting for poison to finish off a Spiker and a Spheric Guardian when you have very reliable blocking and just waiting means that you won't take any more damage.

I so agree with you !!! The Snake plant is almost like an elite fight to me...

Well I've never lost to Snecko and the first time I fought him I had a lot of high cost cards and ended up much better off because of it. I'd complain a lot more about Nob, because he usually appears very early and though he's usually beatable it's hard to leave that fight without taking tons of damage.
