Slay the Spire
I just have to ask, why is Sever soul so bad?
It feels like its the worst card in the game, I cant think of a single deck where this would be useful, even a deck focussed around exhaust card bonuses, especially for its cost and damage inflicted. Hopefully it gets some kind of buff in the future.

Really? I love using this card.

Because it only targets non-Attack cards, you can use it to purge Status and Curse cards from your deck.

Its especially good if you combo it with a card that generates Wounds(ie; Power Through), you can use Sever Soul to trigger the various Powers that rely on Exhaust(ie; Feel No Pain & Dark Embrace).

It also synergizes with Clash, which requires having only Attacks in your hand in order to play it.

Besides, doing roughly 20 DMG on a 2 NRG uncommon card is pretty standard for the Ironclad.

If there's a Red Card you're going to complain about, it should be Immolate.

I agree, I find it to be very useful in exhaust decks, especially if you don't want to run Corruption.
Sever Soul carried me really hard in a branch deck. A card being narrow doesn't make it bad.

It did work on my Evolve wound based deck. It being able to target your blocks or some synergy cards can be awkward, but you can usually play those first, and even if it gets ride of your block cards, as long as you have the thing that gives you block for exhausting stuff you're fine for a deck cycle at least.

16 damage for 2 cost isn't terrible, and the exhaust has more synergy than you'd think. You remember that one skill, Sentinel? It's a basic defend, but grants you energy if it becomes exhausted.

Sever Soul is also DAMN useful for purging wounds and burns from your deck. Once when playing a defensive deck, I lost to Hexaghost because he just filled my deck with Burn cards.

Sever Soul exhausting the non-attacks in your hand is the reason you play the card (it gets rid of Defends, plus other things like if you have too many wounds from Power Through). A vanilla 16 (or 20) attack for 2 is really bad, but sometimes you really want the exhaust so it's good.

Second Wind is almost always better, but sometimes you don't get Second Wind.
