Slay the Spire
Speed Climber Achievement
Any advice for obtaining this achievement? By playing as fast as I can (Fast Mode + one hand on 'e' key + other on mouse), only a cursory look at the map to pick a fast route and virtually no time spent deciding strategically on cards, just pushing forward, I end up with:

I may have just gotten unlucky with getting the Maw (300 hp regular enemy) on the Beyond, but still, the achievement feels quite tight to accomplish. I see that there's quite a few sub-ten minute runs, but what more can I do to increase my chances other than hope for quick encounters?

Here you can watch the speedruns - seems like going ironclad str+full offense is the preffered way.

I just did this yesterday, had to try a few times though. Ironclad with an offense clash build is good, also you should pick up a whirlwind at some point and offering (offering into whirlwind is a lot of damage) strength is good also needed against bosses. Flex is fine and so is spot weaknes. Deamon form might be too slow in regular battles and cost you time.

Also: remember that the time you take to chose the whales blessing also counts as run time, so you shouldn't think too long

Some relics can be incredible, especially the bracelet do that you don't encounter enemies in ? rooms

Use potions when they save time, don't hestitate, this isn't ascension mode so the game is fairly easy

Some good card combos: dual wield + clash

Double tap + whirlwind/cleave or clash

Offering/seeing red with whirlwind

I've had a few attempts, followed this advice and am consistently hitting around 20:09, or reaching the act 3 boss witth three minutes to spare, although winning with the focus on speed isn't certain.

It feels like the most important determinant to success (provided you've got a working offensive deck) is what boss / mobs / map layout come up on the Beyond.

Really a lot of it comes down to rng, doing what lordofdekingz will help minimize that randomness.

Sometimes you can just get a whirlwind necronomicon run and the game becomes easy as hell. Other times you’re screwed over by getting a deck that takes forever to get running like a demon form build.

To me this achievement is so silly. It is primarily about simply moving super fast, having tons of RNG, and just using the same build over and over until it works. Really disappointed in a strategy game having a speed run achievement like this... =/

Oh, and for those who think it is just because "you can't get it." Well, I got it on my 2nd try using a trackpad and laptop. Just silly to have an achievement like that.

I just completed it with a strike build. I removed the defends as soon as I could and I grabbed any large attacks i found.
