Ascension levels

Is there any chance we'll be able to choose what Ascension level we're playing at at some point rather than just having to play at the highest one? Or set our Ascension level options or something? As I do like having more Elites to fight, but, just for example, having all the early Elite's get stat ups just isn't fun for me, so after I completed the first run or two with Ascension on, I basically can't use it for that purpose anymore unless I want to face the stat spike, and (obviously) I don't always want to do that. Any chance that'll be a setting rather than a binary at some point?

I would like that, or at least the ability to hace ascension run in streaks where you can reset back to level 1.

Ascension level 1 gave me so much hope for the concept, difficulty increases without just boosting the stats of enemies!

Then I hit Ascension level 2 and turned the system off. Let down.

At a certain point each level of Ascension has an increasing minimum floor of luck. If you don't get a decent power or relic before you hit Elites, you basically have to start over. Once you get to Ascension lvl 5+, restarting because you didn't get any powers and therefore took a lot of damage defeating elites or had to go a suboptimal pathway to the act boss simply becomes tedious.

I wish Ascension required more planning and less luck. Of course it requires planning, but the chance of a successful run is just increadibly low if you don't get decent powers/relics early.

Could it be because so many facets of the game have downsides? I've noticed I'm skipping a lot of things I encounter because I deem those certain things to be disadvantageous.
