Report a translation problem
Curses are either their own category or at least "uncommon", so they do void the achievement (can confirm due to accidentally hitting the wrong option on an event just before the last campfire).
To add to the detail, I can confirm that getting temporary uncommon/rares doesn't inhibit the achievement. I did transform a block into an uncommon and had a slight panic near the end of the game, but I removed the card and it did not inhibit the achievement.
