Oh wow sounds like a pain, besides the first one
I have more than 300 hours and still play for fun/challange, as it has so many relic/card/strategy combinations, runs can still feel fresh (not always).
And of course, 4th character is coming to BETA branch in less than 2 weeks yeaaah!
Last couple ascension levels are hard as hell, but worth it your time if you like challengues and this kind of games. You will end up with a lot of knowledge and understanding of mechanics, combos, etc. What works in vanila doesnt worth in ascension5, for example. And what works well in ascension 14, doesnt in ascension 19, so you will learn and improve each game.
I have played over 200 hours and enjoyed everyone of them. Just waiting for the fourth character to be released to play the game again!
It's the only way to beat the game properly. I actually wish developers would change the stats for when you win. If you win level 3 without meeting requirements to enter level 4, it should say "Victory?", whereas if you actually beat the game, it will still say "Victory!". It's just odd you get credited for a "victory!" when your character dies at the end and doesn't even face the final boss.
Tell that to 09/09
