weak/vulnerable is supposed to work this way?
If I weaken an enemy/debuff them, I get a countdown and it gradually is weaker until gone. (usually a 1 turn weaken when I run silent) but if the enemy does it for me, I am just screwed at -2 str or -2 vul until end of the fight. Is it supposed to be this way, if so why? It seems to me the player and monster should have the same mechanic, its inifinitely worse for the player to get hit with a -2 the whole fight than some random mob that is fine after 2 turns

Strength and Dexterity debuffs are typically permanent. The value is the magnitude of the effect.
Vulnerability and Weakness are temporary. The effect is static, the value is the duration.

right, I got that part. however, if the monsters inflict it on me, it lasts the whole fight. meanwhile my debuffs on them tick away in usually 1-2 turns even when its the same debuff. I understand how they work, I'm saying from the players side its a bit unfair

You have to watch out for enemies that have "strategic attacks," especially when you're fighting a group.

It doesn't. You should clearly see Vulnerable and Weakness numbers decrease by one each round.

Obviously it's possible for enemies to keep using the attack that causes these debuffs in the first place, which would increase their duration; in this scenario you're going to see the numbers go up during the enemy turn.
