That said, you can play the Magus, it shouldn't make a huge difference, depending on the difficulty you're playing on.
Spec for Trip to reliably land them and with Greater Trip, everyone will also get an attack of opportunity whenever you land that trip. Can't trip someone who is already prone... but chances are most things won't survive the first trip and you can switch to another target in range then. While vs tough guys having like up to 3-4 trip attempts per round is also nice.
I'm basing my build on Vivisectionist 12, as the Greater Mutagen bonuses help with CMB and you can spend Discoveries on Combat Trick feats - and its quite feat intensive. Plus can self buff and lots of Sneak Attack damage is also very nice.
But I will also be taking Archaeologist Bard 2 (for Uncanny Dodge) / Dragon Disciple 4 for Bite, Str bonus, AC and Mirror Image.
Already took Traditional Monk 1 (so can't take Barbarian - but I value AC more) for Wis to AC, +5 Robes and Crane Style and Sword Saint 1 (Fauchard) for Weapon Proficiency Fauchard, Weapon Focus Fauchard (needed for Dazzling Display -> Shatter Defenses).
Probably not a good idea to role play a female Motherless, though. Unless you like the idea of your character being viciously ripped apart from the inside out by their first (and last) born heir!
And then everybody in your direct bloodline would need to get it, too!
"I don't see why you prolong your suffering and birth new beings into the world, who will likewise suffer and eventually die..." While letting the baby eldritch horror suckle on a bottle.
