I use headset, I can test that.
The audio not working anymore is a common issue and not related to this game specifically. (many applications have to reboot when switching sound devices)
I can confirm it only crashes with the audio mode set to 1.

Also, I want to chime again to bring awareness to the bug regarding items IDs becoming completely messed up from time to time, which from what people could gather seems to be linked to saving(and maybe when saving fails, which sometimes seems to occur).
When it happens, the ID of consummable items, as well as equipement pieces in some cases, becomes boggled, and replaced with completely different items coming from every possible source(including restaurant menus). It is for exemple, possible to have food items replaced with various others items, including key items, or items which are permanent and impossible to remove, locking inventory slots in the process.
Strangely enough, the various medicine items seem to be immune to the effect, while food items(and fish bait) seems to be particularly affected by it.
If possible, while fixing the source of the problem, it would be nice to have some way to debug locked inventory slots due to the presence of anormal items. Majima, for exemple, should never have pocket circuit parts in his inventory, and creating rules to remove them in the event it happens would be nice to also fix the symptoms.

If that whole task were more efficient, I might not care... but damn that chews through CPU cycles doing nothing useful.
yeah I'm aware of that, the cpu usage is probably the reason of most crashes and the ocational freezes ingame. I hope the next patch solves this.
Now I had been using the SaveAnywhere=1 tweak but I have only ever saved this way using Slot 2. Slot 1, which I always continue the game from, is used for the phone booth saves. I don't think this is the cause of the issue I have and, besides, no other game out of the dozens and dozens I've played this year, including recent purchases like Forsaken Remastered, Dead Cells, Crash Bandicoot Trilogy and Madden NFL 19, have any problems saving. It's just this damn game and I'm convinced it's down to Denuvo because I cannot think why else a game would not save unless it was some kind of anti-piracy measure (gone wrong!).
Saving during fights WILL cause bugs, and there's no way to complain about it, you activated a function that was not implemented for a reason, and used it on your own risk. bugs for using the Save Anywhere function are not considered bugs.
