Introduction

This mini-plugin for Special K will improve image quality as well as adding all the bells and whistles that come with Special K.

Current Features:

• Option to disable first-person blur
• Option to disable Depth of Field
• Option to disable SSAO
  Since people won't shutup about this, I should point out it's a performance option rather than img. quality -- I'm trying to cover all bases here and give players options that the developers did not.

Download and Install

• 0. The Visual C++ 2017 runtime[aka.ms] is a required pre-req.

1. Grab this archive[github.com] from GitHub.
   
2. Extract it to your game's install directory (SteamApps\common\Yakuza 0\media)

Configuration

Press Ctrl + Shift + Backspace to open Special K's config menu, then focus on the options under the "Yakuza 0" heading.

Troubleshooting

If the mod does not work, third-party software (especially FRAPS!), anti-virus software or Windows 7 is usually to blame.

Windows 7 has a half-dozen optional updates that you need to install to use modern software such as mine; it's easier just to upgrade to Windows 10 :P

If after closing third-party software the game still does not start, please paste logs/dinput8.log, logs/modules.log and logs/game_output.log to pastebin.com and provide a link in a post.

Misc Notes

Texture mods with Special K are currently unsupported due to some truly bizarre memory management problems in this game's graphics engine.

The changes staging in 0.9.24.x are available in a separate branch[gitlab.com].

I went overboard with code refactoring and that stuff's not going in the master branch until I have time to validate (that's where you guys come in) software operation better :)

No, but that's only because 0.9.24 isn't released yet :)

You can just download the file I linked above and manually transplant those files. Said download is what my installer would use when the Global version is installed, but just picking the plug-ins out of it like this will actually let you use ReShade using this standalone mod.

Yakuza world looks so much better without that vaseline effect ^_^.

Nothing is coming up when I hit ctrl + shift + backspace. It only locks my controller until I hit it again. Also, when I exit the game it hangs for a couple minutes.

I would love to get this working.

If I had to guess, since you're not providing any logs here... you're running WIndows 7? :) I hate that OS, it shouldn't exist.

Latest build of Windows 10, and there is no logs to provide, with dinput8.dll in the media folder when i start yakuza 0 the "preparing to start yakuza 0" steam box pops up for a split second and then disapears and nothing happens yakuza doesn't start, as soon as i remove dinput8.dll the game starts fine.

The ability to remove the first person blur and depth of field is awesome, thanks for working on this!

I am getting a crash when I go into first person mode with blur disabled and take screenshots using the steam hotkey (mine is set to num pad -). It doesn't happen immediately but after taking a few, the current frame freezes on the screen and then after that controller input causes a metal gear solid alerted guards type of sound and then the game crashes.

If you can't reproduce it I can post the log files.

Process doesn't terminate after exiting game. Yakuza0.exe is still running.

Fine for me using the games own framelimiter (AppData\Roaming\Sega\Yakuza0\graphics.ini set MaxFPS= to your fps limit) but using special-k's frame limiter also gives me frame pacing issues, i guess that's because the ingame frame limiter can't be disabled so using another one on top of it is detrimental.

The control panel have an option in a section for how long that banner should appear for. It is by default set to 20. Slide it all the way to the left to 0.
