Alt+Tab puts the game into windowed mode.
Pls fix this. I Alt+Tab way more than I realized I would.

Yeah borderless is a fix BUT it fks up your performance BADLY!

There is no bug, you alt tab and it deselects the window so inputs will not be sent to the window, so you have to reselect the window as a primary window (by alt + tabbing through open windows until you're back on the game) and then alt + enter will work, as the game is again the selected window and receiving input.

Just basic functionality of Windows and a game that is forced into Windowed mode when you alt tab.

You've no idea what we're talking about here. Here's my previous thred (one among hundreds of the same here on the forums)

Even though in the settings the game is set for full screen, once I ALT TAB the game goes into windowed mode and displays weird (watermark) symmetrical scan lines both vertical and horizontal all over my screen. They look like screen tearing but this ain't no screen tearing I've ever seen before.

Also ALT + ENTER does not turn the game back into fullscreen.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Edit 0* I panicked after taking screenshots and videos of the issue and the issue itself doesn't reproduce or appear anywhere in the recorded material. Thought I am going crazy. Then I realised the only place I see this issue is within this game alone. Nowhere else. So has to be a setting issue right?

Edit 1* ALT + Enter only works after pressing it twice in a row. This could be due to the fact that I'm using a controller and the game hasn't yet decided if it should accept imputs from my controller or mouse & keyboard first.

Edit 2* Quick fix I found is to to into game settings and turn fullscreen OFF then back ON and the game actually does go back to fullscreen and all them lines disappear. But ALT - Tabing again brings back the issue.

Edit 3* Permanent Fix until patch: Tinkering with the .ini settings to make the game borderless sorted out this issue, no more freakin watermark/scan/screen tearing lines all over my damn screen. And no more damn windowed mode ON after ALT - TAB.

YES. Alt Tab is a bug in this game for many of us.
NO. Alt Tabing again won't fix anything for us. It DOESN'T make the game FULLSCREEN AGAIN and it stays windowed even after restart. Unless you go back to settings and turn Fullscreen ON/OFF and ON again.
No. ALT + ENTER will not remove the bug effects off the screen (horisontal and vertical lines in a grid all over the screen that look watermark-like and/or screen tearing like)

The only real fix for us is running the game borderless and due to the serious amount of resources this game requires already, borderless has a big impact. Full screen 4k everything on is 60FPS. Borderless is 40-45. Big difference.

You need to put on windowed borderless in the cfg files <
If this is the same bug from my thread, not only does this bug put your game into windowed mode but also starts displaying horizontal and vertical lines all over your screen that look like screen tearing but aren't. Makes everything look extremely bad.

The only "fix" to this so far is to go in game cfg file and set to borderless.
Go to options. Change fullscreen to off , then back to on...

Yes, that is the fix. Every single time you Alt+Tab.

Which for me is a lot and borderless doesn't sound fun for performance.

All you gotta do is alt + tab again to re-select the window and then Alt + Enter to go back to full screen.

That's how alt+tab works. If it didn't, you'd be stuck in the game forever :)

Just press ALT+Enter to fullscreen it again.

If you alt + tab out of the game and you get the window, all I do is click the game and alt+enter+enter and bam, full screen again.

Yes, enter twice because the first alt+enter command doesn't return the game to full screen but second press of enter key does the trick, oddly enough.

You might have better luck using F11 instead. It seems something's interfering with DXGI's default behavior.

That said... some games will restore fullscreen exclusive mode when you alt+tab back in.

My own software has a feature to perform this. I cannot use it in this game, however, because it is not safe to force this game into fullscreen mode. The game locks up, as is not that uncommon and almost certainly the reason the game itself isn't bothering to go back into fullscreen mode either.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

The OP mentioned nothing of such an issue, only that alt-tabbing puts the game into Windowed mode, which is exactly like hundreds of other PC titles. Alt-tabbing again to select the game window and then alt+enter puts it back into fullscreen.

Literally done this probably 30 times during my playthrough and hundreds/thousands of times with other games in total, your other issue with scan lines is not something that everyone is experiencing.

And I am telling you ALT Tabing aain doesn't do anything. Let alone put the game back into windowed mode. So why are you arguing again? Unlike the other 1500 games I own on steam alone, none of them did this for me. No other game automatically changed my game from full screen to windowed no matter the title.
