So it would make sense that activating Dolby Atmos in FFXV AND Dolby Atmos/Windows Sonic at the same time would process the sound twice and that will screw up the audio.
you see i never have this problem with overwatch I use Bose and beats by dre for dolby atmos for overwatch i can hear the difference and also for this game but it works for everything except [CG cutscenes for this game] the toggle option is not suppose to be on 7.1 if ur playing games for dolby atmos its suppose to be off which is most likely giving u that message the tick for 7.1 is everything else
Yeah, but Overwatch and Final Fantasy XV are different. Overwatch was released with Dolby Atmos BEFORE spatial audio was natively supported in Windows.
You can try this for yourself: disable spatial audio completely in your Windows audio device settings, and try to toggle Spatial Audio in the game. You'll see the option is disabled, because FFXV requires a spatial audio format (and Windows 10) and external software/hardware to do the work. Overwatch does not.
Overwatch was released before spatial audio was a thing in Windows, that's why its implementation is different. You should still disable 5.1/7.1 virtualisation in the drivers, but that's about it, really...
Basically it's like the difference between MIDI and MP3 (though maybe this analogy doesn't make sense if you're not familiar with games from the 90s =P). One scenario relies on the device to figure out the volume and the other was already mixed together.
EDIT: Before I confuse anyone, I replied to the wrong person... follow the inner-most quote please :)
Interesting, if I start the game without Sonic then the Spatial Audio setting is greyed out, BUT when I start the game with Sonic on AND try to turn Spatial Audio on at the same time it produces no sound. Same thing with Dolby Atmos for Headphones, there's no sound at all with Spatial Audio ON. The sound returns only if Spatial Audio is off OR Sonic/Atmos is off.
I don't get it. Is Dolby Atmos built-in to the game? and if so it would make sense if there's audio problems if I have Sonic on at the same time, since the sound is being processed twice. But you said that FFXV uses some external "format" for Spatial Audio, and yet when I have the game's Spatial Audio "ON" along with Windows Sonic/Atmos at the same time it's just complete silence.
something has to be wrong on ur end cause most of us have the sound ingame the only problem most of us with dolby atmos for headphones is the audio in cg cutscenes the voices are extremely low but the sound effects walking etc is loud VERY
