McAfee suddenly keeps deleting the EXE
NO I'M NOT DELETING THE ANTIVIRUS THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN FIVE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ YEARS ITS GIVEN ME ANY TROUBLE.

Look I was just playing this last week without a hitch, It was working fine for me ever since launch (I got it a few hours after launch so I avoided the crash on start up glitch.) And I've been playing off and on since launch.

I don't know what happened with my anti-virus to suddenly see the exe as a threat but its removing it from the steam files and quarentening it saying it "looks supicious" and alright fair enough I guess "SONIC FORCES.EXE" does look supicious if you don't know what the ♥♥♥♥ it is but what confuses me is I've been runing and playing this game without problems for WEEKS and it's only now saying its an issue.

I can't find anything online about how to allow McAfee to whitelist the exe, and I'm posting here cause I dont wanna go through the trouble to create an account on a form for the program and wait weeks for a reply when I'll probably get one quicker from someone who knows what they're talking about here.

I've poked around in my files and all I have is the option to restore the exe but when I do that then boot up the game it just quarentens it again. Please can someone help me with this? I'm uninstalling and reinstalling the game to see if that helps, but I have a feeling it will repeat itself.

From what I did read SEGA didn't tell McAfee about their game so the exe name went on their threat list automatically, so how long until they figure it out I wonder?

And please... I have insomnia, I've been up all night, its 6am as I type I just want to play some Sonic. This program though it has a bad rep has worked well for me, as I said not a hitch for five years, it's actually saved me from viruses and trojans, so can I get some actual ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ help instead of snide jokes telling me to just delete it? IT's part of a family package deal and my mom buys it for all pcs in the house, so I can't just delete it we're paying money for it.

Thanks in advance.

You can disable the realtime check when you start the game and enable it afterwards again. Maybe it wont delete it next time.

"McAfee" is hands down one of the woprst anti virus, as its all the Anti Viruis issue seen this before as if the EXE is not in McAfee data base then it will always try to delete it, I would never recomend McAfee ever not even to my worst enemy

Will still end up deleting it still as its the programs fault it removes it as game has not been added to the data base yet so will need Macafee to update things untill then will have to disable the real time stuff

As I stated above oldly enough this program has worked wonders for me in 5 years total now and this is the first ever hitch i had with it, also im not even sure if i have actual mcafee anymore because i did notice deep in the roots of the problem its listed as "intel secruity" but i think they keep the mcafee front cause ppl are used to that.

Like its funny its gotten so many bad reviews i mean this is annoying but its also segas fault too cause they did not tell mcafee to add the game to the databse, but this one incident aside which is just midly annoying cause of how hard it is to find the whitelist, i actually prefer this anti-virus and its caught and protected me against a lot of viruses and trojans ive downloaded by mistake cause im an idiot and sometimes insisit on pirating stuff from shady websites.

in my honest opinion its good, but thats just my opinion and experince. (i also like how with web protection it will just straight up block acess from harmful sites.)

Tell SEGA to digitally sign the executable or at the very least put version information in it. Anti-virus software does not like the former and it really hates the latter.

SEGA's going to have these headaches until they do one or both of those things.

Oh, so that's what is happening.

In the other thread about Anti-Virus related issues, everybody was just going "DENUVO IS MALWAR! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
